Issues with HD Midi update on Otus

    Hi Folks,

This is a bit of a Strange one....

I just got into testing Traktor Pro with latest midi update for MacOsx from eks-website.

One of the things that I was looking forward to most was the Scratch fix (this being a bit dysfunctional until now)

Everything was going very sweet, Jog-wheel responded nicely and midi-control was nice and with low latency response.
I set it up at 4ms and with no problems at all.

Then i happily unplucked my machine and went to do a session with my mates and for some reason or other the HD midi functionality had stopped, it seemed like the update had disappeared after shutdown?

I am only at the beginning of my journey to resolve this. I would really like to get TPro working. I like the features but yet again I am getting more stability from Traktor 3..........

Any one of you guys got same problems/any possible fixes to get this right?

    Sigh.....

    congrats.

nice to have four of them but don't really understand why you would, isn't each otus supposed to act as two decks?

    Hi guys,

i just got my Otus last week and i'm just setting it up, this midi mapping and adjusting is a real pain in the ass... I finally got pitch bending to work nicely, but i'm wondering if there is any way to have the finest pitch sensitivity to be precise enough (steps of +/- 0.1%) with the 35% pitch as it is with 10%? I need the pitch range of 35% but then fine pitch is not precise enough :(

Is it possible to run decks A/B via Otus soundcard and B/C via Presonus Firewire soundcard?

One thing about this controller makes me rather sad - altough built quality is very good, when i unpacked the controller for the first time some of the black stickers on the buttons peeled off and as time goes by other stickers start peeling off also. Do you also have this issue? I mean, for such an expensive controller this is unacceptable...

hum, well, I have my pitch set at 35% and have np goin in 0.1% steps, but then im at the finest pitchmode on the deck(led closest to u lit)

about sound, i guess its possible to get it to work to have the Otus and the presonius run side by side if u can get them running usin ASIO for all, but i cant tell u if that will be stable. EDIT: didnt se u r on a mac, u might try what i do, se next sentence.
I use an xp10 that i added to the setup, with it I get my 4th audio out(I take the 2 rca and the headphonejack from the otus) and also use the xp10 for controlling deck c and d with traktors focuscommand

but i found his http://www.apple.com/pro/techniques/aggregateaudio/ and it might help, but the way I have it runnin might be better as the EKS drivers supports adding more units and gives more channels out by it

and ye, mine lost some button colous to, but imo its bad and good, it dont look that good, but u can se the buttons easyer in dark DJbooths :p

    Paint peeling off

I had the same phenomena with my first Otus controller, but got it changed easily by EKS. The first series has the matte colour on the buttons that peels off easily. Now i have a newer one with glossy paint, that has not shown any weaknesses so far. (3-4 months..) So go for it and have the Otus changed. MJ

The Aggregate Audio Thing is working fine. I also had to do it to get my 2 Otusses working together for the 4 Deck Setup. Should go with your Soundcard tooo.... MJ

    Hi,

To get audio is very simple, just go into your pc settings, and select the Otus in your audiosettings, as the default audiodevice! Put up the volume to the max, and your set! To go.

For the midi part, import the midi settings that the Otus has put in a map called third party setting. And from there start tweaking your setting. But with this default midi setting, you got your Jogwheel and your pitch setup with the feel of a CDJ1000. :) Good luck

    Hi there,

I got my Otus working perfectly the last few weeks, I only have 1 problem, when I'm pitching and I take of my finger from the pitch it move a bit, so you can never get it 100% right.

Does any one have the same problem, or does anyone have a solution on this?

    Thanks

    Best Ronald

to set the last bit of pitch i use the finest setting on the otus and to move in 0.1 steps at 35% u kinda have to just slightly touch it/swipe it up or down

    otus problems

i have been using the otus with a mac on 4 decks for a month. I love it so far.

    A few annoyances though....

    1. the tempo does jump when you take your finger off the slider.... i think its because of the flex of the touch sensitive material. the lighter you touch it... the less it jumps.

    2. The 6 flat buttons next to the mouse pad.... SUCK. they cant be seen in a dark room. and I bump them all the time when i stroke the jog wheel. (He said stroke... ha ha) since i have master/slave set on those buttons ... its really annoying.

3.. the future design foot print is great if the turn table is landscape... but in battle style... you have to take out the phono cartridge to get it to sit in a solid position.

    4. the mouse pad speed is not adjustable... its so fast on my mac i cant use it safely.

but i moved to this from an xone 1D and i like this much better. all in all a great midi controller.

EKS Otus / CDJ 1000 = Mirror Performance?

Has anyone got the jog platter to feel exactly like the CDJ1000? I just cant get my midi settings right.

I would love to know what midi setting details you used...

Type of Jog Dial... Sensitivity.... invert or not....etc.. etc...
    ---

if you do that... then the mac track pad is super slow. they should have the same performance so they match when adjusted. Just something more to tell the eks engineers to add to the list
