Hi guy I'm looking to get a new midi controller but cannot decide. I think these 2 look like the best options as I only have around £300 to spend.

The XP10'are being disscontinued so they are on a discount on the EKS website for 99 euro each! I hear the 24 bit sound card in the omni's is better though although teh 16bit one in the Xp10's is still of good quality.

Any other controllers I should consider? I hear tracktor is a great program so Ideally I would like to use it . Any help or advice would be greatly appricated

well, if u decide to go with the xp10's u r gonna have a hell of a good controller to work with, I have hade my 2 for like 4 or 5 years and they have never failed me, and they are easy to use and gives loads of options for use with Traktor.

The main reason for takin the Xp10's all those years ago was that they r separate units, and there4 u can select any mixer u want, that was the the most important thing for me.

    Sound quality is exelent.

now I upgraded, added 1 Otus for main decks and 1 xp10 for the C and D decks. it rocks :p

Many thanks for your reply. Great to hear that the XP10's have performed well for you. I think they are looking like the best option for me tbh. While they may not look that nice, all the reports and reviews I have been getting, have been very positive. They are also so much smaller than enything else on the market.

The only real issue with midi controllers for me is that they take up additional space and often Dj Booth's where I play do not have a lot of excess space, which makes options like serato scratch very attractive. However I learnt to mix on Cdj's and find mixing vinyl hard, also the serato control cd's obviously require CDJ's which kind of defeats the point of having an all in one portable digital setup

Just had a quick question...Can I use normal 'stutter' queueing on the Xp10's like CDJ's have? Tbh I am a traditional beat matcher type Dj and won't really need any advanced features, just need them to sound good and be reliable really.

Also I hear they 16 bit sound cards they have are very good, do you think the 24bit cards in the numark omni control would sound much better?

if u r gonna use the xp10's with Bison, EKS dj software, there is a CDJ-stutter mode if i remember correct, and u can do the same in Traktor, all thou when haveing a visual confirmation on screen like in Traktor and in Bison I found it easyer to use vinyl mode for a "smoother" feel and as u see the wave its rly easy to cue anyway.

about the 24 bit vs the 16 bit question, the only thing that will rly make a big difference is if u have audio files in 24 bit.

I think i'm gonna use Traktor 3 as it supports FLAC! which is amazing! I may well try and start to learn to mix that way as I often play with my friends serato setup with vinyl and need to really learn the skills anyway. Think I might go order the Xp10's now! thanks agin for the advice.

bison is free with the xp-10s and i would recommend you try just to see how you like it as well as traktor. I was pretty impressed by the simplicity of the bison software. not alot of tricks or gadgets but everything you need to mix. you can also do everything you need to do in bison without using the mouse.

i also recommend you try the deckadance demo. thanks
