Alright, Im thinking of buying an EKS XP5.
I know it is compatible with Traktor, so Im hopin you guys can help me out.
I have been told that the jog wheel sends out MIDI control messages. I take it that means cc info.
How the heck does it do it?
I have only ever set up MIDI controlers to go from 0(min) to 127(max). The jog wheel seems to have no start nor end point!
Does it go from zero to 127 and then back to zero and chose another bank?
    Clearly, I have no idea!
Mapping jog wheels is new ground for me.
I need to know what MIDI info, what values (eg 0-127) and how it works.
I will then make an extra cool Reaktor ensamble for it. Oh Yeahh!

i have one sitting here right next to me and i powered up midihack to see what was going on.

the jog wheel spits out data BO 60 40 when it is turned clockwise and B0 60 3F when it is spinning counterclockwise.

it just keeps spitting out that info until you stop the spinning it doesn't go from 1 to 127 or back or anything like that.

i think it is fairly common for jogwheels.

i should mention you get different data but the same idea when you touch the touch sensitive platter and spin it.

    hope this helps.

    please disregard the B0 60 40, it is B0 60 41.

so here it is again sorry for the error i will explain after:

    non-touch ring area spinning clockwise: B0 60 41
    non-touch ring area spinning counterclockwise: B0 60 3F

touching touch area spinning clockwise: B0 61 41
touching touch area spinning counterclockwise: B0 61 3F

just touching and releasing the touch area is similar to touching a button with notes 90 09 7F when touched and giving 90 09 00 when released.

the eks uses a midi editor that you can change presents, mine was set for deckadance when i gave you the previous posts values.

    the above are for traktor.

    Thanks Again!

That info will be forwarded to the reaktor forum.

You should offer to do the technical support for EKS, Id vouch for ya!
you were much more use than their website!

thanks for the kind words, just trying to help, i would also suggest you check out the EKS XMAP MIDI MAPPER GUIDE:
    http://eks.fi/index2.php?p=support&o=MIDI Mapper Guide

it will explain how presents work and how you can make your own for the software you are using.

so those values aren't something that are set in stone, you could set it via midi mapper to send out different values if you wanted.

i'm glad other1 was able to answer that question. i use my xp5 as a midi controller only. as i only have one, i don't use its soundcard but my firebox.

latency is number that people like to throw around but most of the time they are just talking about only one aspect of a system's total latency and really they have no idea what their total latency is. as long as you are using the asio driver and a decently powerful computer, you shouldn't even notice the latency.

also have you seen there is a sale on xp-10s? pretty good deal if you ask me.
