    Hello everybody,

The hotfix for Elektrik Piano 1.5 is now available via the usual channels. Tonal inconsistencies in some of the Authentic patches have been fixed. Enjoy!

    Regards, Thomas

Oh, hang on, the 1.5.0 updates (Mac & Win) available on the site updates page are listed with today's date - have the team just implemented modified .nki files into the same version release ? Confusing if so - my site update page tells me I've already downloaded it, though ServiceCenter seems to think I haven't ?

Are we supposed to just reinstall 1.5.0 ?

    Hi all,

yes with silent fixes we only update the date not the minor version.

so it is still product version 1.5.0 but content version 1.5.1.

    best,
    Markus

    Hi all,

Call me stupid but I can't find this anywhere? I recently purchased the update online from EP1 so maybe this is why? 1.5 is in my service centre as activated but when i go to updates it's not there and neither can I find it from logging in on the NI site?

    Cheers.

It's all a little bit confusing - my original 1.5 download was, I think, "Elektrik Piano 1.5.0 Installer", which produced version 1.5.0.008; up on the site, and in ServiceCenter, at the moment, dated 22 May, is "Elektrik Piano 1.5.0 [OS] Update", which downloads as "Elektrik Piano 1.5 Installer", which subsequently produces version 1.5.0.009 (which is actually the same size as .008, to the byte, so I doubt it's been changed at all). But prior to downloading this the site update page was listing this as 'already downloaded' for me, it wasn't till I noticed the date, and Markus' post, that I went ahead and downloaded it. And it was showing as 'not downloaded' in my ServiceCenter, but then again it *still* is, some of the time! As far as I can tell, ServiceCenter does not attempt to check what's actually installed on the machine, just presumably tries to keep a tally of what it's downloaded, and it's not very consistent about that. All in all, not very friendly (at least SC's consistent about that, I suppose!).

And of course the Installer itself doesn't attempt to check what you've already got installed or or where it is, so you can easily end up with both versions on your machine if you're not careful. What *has* changed with today's update is the '.nki's for all the 'MK 2 Authentic's and 'MK 1 Authentic Suitcase', and thankfully the installer seems to track these down and overwrite successfully.

However, whilst I've not had any time to do much more than install and check it runs, I'm not sure I'm going to feel totally happy with it; changes have obviously been made, and the worst 'booming' notes seem to have been rectified, but there still seem to be a fair few notes that jump out too much at some velocities. Any of us with Kontakt 2 can open up the '.nki's and have a close look ... but where to find the time! I think maybe the new amp simulation that's been added is probably accentuating differences that are already present in the sample set. It's a shame, because I *really* like the new sound.

Markus, if 1.5.1 just refers to NI's notion of 'content version', well unfortunately that doesn't relate to anything we see on our machines except in the readme, at least on OSX. Where version numbers are mentioned, we tend to assume we're talking about the app; it's not a huge deal, but the fact that the site Update page effectively considered this update to be my already downloaded original 1.5.0 is likely to end up confusing a lot of users, I think - at least mention the content version in the update name, to differentiate it. And I *really* wish ServiceCenter took the trouble to check what we've actually got installed on our disks, I'm quite sure it wouldn't be more than half a day's coding for someone to implement this (ok, plus testing) - could you enquire ?

    Hi,

Thanks for your reply andywilde. Here is where the confusion lies(d) - The update for 1.5 is actualy under EP1 on the NI update site as oppose to being under the 1.5 update, Which is why I could not find it! As I don't have EP1 installed, only 1.5, this is probably why it is not showing up in my update manager. The SC is a wierd and wonderful thing for sure. Every now and then receives an update, but never seems to sort out anything that could be useful, like, do not display files I have already downloaded etc. Well, I guess thats for another thread. It's just downloading now so i'll give it a whirl and jazz out (well, try at least!)

    Cheers all.

    Hi all,

We have renamed the patched 1.5 version to "1.5 R2" to avoid confusion. It should now show up under this name both in the Service Center and in the download area of the website.

    Regards, Thomas

Thanks Thomas, that makes more sense.

Could you confirm, just so I/we know for sure, that Service Center does *not* actually attempt to check for itself what versions of apps we currently have installed when it presents potential updates for us ?

Yes, at the moment the Service Center remembers the updates you downloaded, but it doesn't actively check the installed versions on your computer.

Thanks Thomas - I'll look upon that "at the moment" as potentially hopeful ;) .

Thanks for the hotfix. So far, everything I've tried seems to be really good. Especially the MKII Suitcase.

wasthis updated again in July 2007?

the current version for download is named R2, but i have already downloaded a version named R2 in May 2007.

    can anyone clarify, please?

    Hi Win,

you are right, the release in July should have been called R3 and the date updated from May.

the thing is that there are no changes between the two installers other than in the instructions related to the license for the Universal Binary version. this is due to the fact that the UB version is free since July 2007.

so if you already installed the May version, there is no need to update again to the July version!

    best,
    Markus

Sorry but I can't confirm: I downloaded and installed the "1.5 R2" update (22.05.2007 - 81.2 MB), but the speakers-killer A200 "Authentic Phaser" bug is still there.

Does this version fix the yes/no dialogue issues in Leopard?
