Yeah, if Native Instruments isn't even going to manage excessive spam, they've pretty much given up on this forum.

They do deal with it as soon as they can , generally in the morning the spamming starts after midnight in the uk/Europe , this was happening last year and they did managed to stop it ,but obviously the spammers have managed to circumvent the measures put in place.
They can’t just block/limit posts of every new user, because the majority of new users come here to get help , so it would be unfair to them .

How hard is it to implement a decent spam blocker on this site? These spambots are signing up with clearly random usernames, I doubt they would get through a Capcha, they post at a rate of 1 post every few minutes, it would not be hard to implement a block on multiple rapid posts.

We have to manually handle it, I do it pretty much everyday :S Spam shouldn't be on the forum for long before a mod gets in.
Registering has one of those "I am not a reboot" checks, but I guess that's pretty easy to get around and bypass, a captcha would probably at least decrease the number of accounts.

I would like if the forum had some love for the web dev team too, installing a couple of plugins takes 3 minutes.

That's crazy - yes please install some more effective spam blockers. Most forums have Captchas at least, some (like KVR) also have limits on number of posts in a row, ability to have links in the first few posts etc, it's not hard to see there is always a pattern of these bots posting the same damn thing every couple of mins - no one but a spammer does that so block the behaviour. If one real person finds that inconvenient at some point then tough.

Handling spam all sounds very easy, but only if you have to manage it on a simple forum. Once you run a large website, including shop and many, many user accounts then all the plugins need to get vetted and thoroughly checked before installing them. Not just the plugins, but also the 3rd party dependencies they have. It's not just about installing a plugin, its about having to keep the data of all our users safe.

As D-One said, we need to remove the spam manually. If there was an easy way for us to have less work, and to not have to do that we would have done it. It's not like it's a fun task to take care of ;)
That said, the spam you see if just a fraction of the spam signups we get. Many, many accounts get blocked by the spam filter.

And we have not given up on the forum, it's the contrary, we're looking to totally revamp the whole forum, with a brand new system. Combining the user and support forums. Having a single sign-in for the whole website, etc etc. This is a very large topic and will require some time, but it's something we are committed to!

Surely you can make for rules that will limit the sort of spam we are getting here though, even if it gets through CAPCHA these bots are posting at a rate of once a minute or two - no one needs to post at that rate so block users from doing so

That's kinda pointless, because they create a new spam account every day.

Eeew, not too sure about idea... When I go over the new posts I open several in new tabs and then go over them. Sometimes I do indeed post several messages within a few minutes (it helps to be a fast typist). Not to mention that those bots are probably automated, so if you extend the threshold between posts they'll just wait a little longer and still dump their garbage on the forums.

Having to wait 2 - 3 minutes between posts would definitely kill a lot of good vibes.

I'd just ban Chinese characters or keywords in Chinese and be done with it tbh, not that complicated since we don't actually have any forum supporting Chinese in the international section.

I don't think post delay helps either, as they keep trying to post until the timer runs out.
