Every night chinese spam here since weeks!

Any idea what the spam is all about? Are they trying to get something out of the community? Out of NI?
Or is it just for the sake of annoyance?

 

Selling Doctor and Professor titles in some cases.
If you see one use google translator for the content.

 

Then they can get a job as a doctor!

 

Isn't is possible to add a captcha next to the 'POST REPLY' button for everyone with less than 10 posts? Something like 'select all images with traffic lights'.

 

Well I was thinking it could just be applied to new users, like there's a honeymoon period for new users where they need to demonstrate they are legit posters

 

...or just update the forum itself? Maybe a forum+ ...

Lots of other forums do something similar until you have posted 10 or even more posts

 

They already pass the captcha during sign up, so serving a captcha when posting doesn't make a difference

As already mentioned in this thread, this is what we are currently looking into. We are now talking to multiple companies to see which solution is the best fit

 

Maybe they sign up manually and then start a bot to spam? I think if they need to solve a captcha for every post they will soon give up.

Another solution is to make it so that the first 5 or 10 posts of every new user need to be approved by a mod, but this will of course give the mods a lot more work.

 

Have you watched the video I have shared twice in this thread? This is all automated and apparently very advanced. Seems there are big bucks to be made with fake diploma's

 

I just find it strange that I don't see this on other forums that don't even use such a strong captcha.

You can always create your own captcha, so spambots don't know how it works Google captcha is too well known, which makes it a playground for spammers.

It's not spam if they are allowed to post there
