Evolution Series Sale - My demo of COLORS

If you are considering buying the Evolutions COLORS series, here's composition I did using only instruments from COLORS. It was a lot of fun. I think the deal is worth it just for the vocal library, BRONTË.

I mixed it binaurally, so you'll need to put headphones on to get the 3D effects.

 

Beautiful! You have a great sense of composition. Sounds very intimate but at the same time quite powerful.

Could you explain what you used for binaural mixing?

I used dearVR MUSIC by Dear Reality. There was a big sale on their stuff at the end of the year. They have a free 14 day trial if you want to try it out.

I put an instance of the plugin on every track, and, aside from orchestrating the piece with a lot of different frequency ranges, that's all I used to mix it.
I just put everything in different places. I had three vocal tracks, so the vocal could really seem to surround your head.

This was my first attempt. I don't know if this will work with every kind of track. It works well for something atmospheric/new age/ambient like this. I discovered that the illusion does sound very different on different kinds of headphones. (It was a very depressing discovery, because it sounds amazing on my Beyerdynamic headphones. And there 's also the issue of whether people will want to put on headphones at all.

After I do more, I will do a video on my experiences making binaural music.

Thank you for a detailed description, much appreciated. Also, congratulations on your first attempt, you nailed it. Binaural mixing sounds awesome in your track, it feels as if the music is right there. I am using inexpensive Yamaha HPH-50 headphones, but the sound is superior to regular mixing. Do let us know if you do a video on making binaural music. All the best.
