    Hi,

    I've realized that when preparing tracks (let's say when i'm in background edit mode, not playing live) i need to be jumping constantly, for each track, between CUE, GRID and MOVE until i have made all the settings i want in a track.

    It would be very useful and time saving, if we could open the three panels at once for having more confort in making these inputs.

    Thanks

    I am annoyed by that as well..

    i liked the old panels. once you had everything figured out, everything was very easy to control.

    actually i prefer the new panels, below the deck. but having to switch from one to another is annoying...

    yesterday, after 4 hours, i had only 50 tracks reviewed and with grid, cues, loops, etc. assigned.

    i think i could have been done 100 if i hadn't to go around clicking 'for free' :)

    Could this be achieved with macro-ing of hotkeys?

    Eg. macro a hotcue cue & set command with the command to view the CUE panel.

    Eg. macro the Tap tempo, or Grid move and widen/narrow buttons command to view the GRID panel.

    If you hotkey and macro most of your grid set/cue set functions then the panels would kind of intelligently follow your workflow.

    I've been trying to find a program that is able to interpret a MIDI message as a mouse click at a certain XY coordinate on the screen.

    One could then map controller buttons to the XY coordinates of those elusive Move, Cue & Grid buttons in the interface (or any nonassignable button in Traktor, for that matter).

    My search for such a program came up empty - anyone know of anything?

    Hi Nixego..

    I'm afraid I'm on the other side.. trying to get it for my Mac..
    Is this of any help?

    http://www.bome.com/midi/translator/mt_pro.html

    Features Overview

    * MIDI-to-MIDI conversion
    * MIDI-to-keystroke mapping
    * organize mappings in presets

    Folks I think I just wet myself. I have 'Move', 'Cue', and 'Grid' panels successfully mapped to my controller.

    The program suggested above is THE SOLUTION FROM HEAVEN for Windows users and was exactly what I was looking for. (I actually stumbled across the mouse keyboard program by the same developer but I didn't click around enough to find this other one - thanks Marc!)

    Okay, so Bome's MIDI Translator Pro lets one create a list of "MIDI Translations" (duh). Basically, upon a MIDI CC the program can be made to perform a specified output: mouse movement, button clicks, keystrokes, you name it.

    I set it up so each MIDI CC is configured to output two things:

    a) Move cursor to absolute position (X,Y)
    b) Left click

    For example, I have 2 translations mapped to MIDI CC #21 on my controller: one to move cursor to (X,Y) = (140, 451) and the other to Left Click. Voila! The Move Panel is now selected!

    Repeat for Cue and Grid panels, and for both decks. See screenshot. I think I'm going to map the 'Snapshot' buttons now, too.

    This is just brilliant!

    The program is well written and hides in the system tray. Unfortunately it is only a 30 day trial and costs $77 US to purchase. But seriously, why can't NI just have everything MIDI assignable? There's nothing to lose.

    Edit: Was browsing Bome's site and found a Beta version for Mac users.

    That certainly is nifty. However the Cue, Move and Grid panels are already selectable by midi function anyway?

    As in View > Select Advanced Panel > Direct

    Bomes midi Translator pro does this, and now has a MAC beta version. It's a paid program, but it will translate mouse and keystrokes into midi and visa versa.

    my apologies for answering a little late to this thread but... isn't this solution slightly far of being user friendly?

    i mean... sorry but the initial purpose of the thread was to make things easier, not even complicate the procedure by using an additional program....

    :confused:

    Or maybe even a separate "prepare" type window, similar to Serato's offline player? I'd love to be able to see the transient peaks of the whole song at one time when I'm adjusting the bpm grid. There would be much less clicking around if a whole-song-with-transients view was possible.

    now that you mention the grid, there's something strange.

    whenever you don't set a grid in a song, it appears that the white vertical lines mark the place where a beat is detected. at this point the beatgrid is somehow flexible, i mean, it could be used to set on the fly loops on any place of an inconsistent tempo track, while having the snap option active. figure out a rock n' roll track for this example.

    however, if you make a fixed beat grid, an inconsistent tempo track can't be 'tailored' to perfection.

    and in case the initial 'flexible' grid, that's not been fixed, is detected at half the tempo, you're sold. i mean, if you specify *2, the grid gets fixed accross the track.

    i think it would be great, if, over the initial flexible grid we could somehow mark which are the right beats to follow, i mean help traktor resolve the beats it has 'confusion' to determine. so we would end up having something similar to the warp feature in live.

    i don't know if i'm explaining it correctly... but in case somebody out there catches my idea... please help me write it properly in the feature requests!

    +1 i want access to all this at once, when doing prep its a pain in the butt to constantly have to make these changes, being able to just point and click to do anything without having to flick though internal menus would be very nice.

    Yeah! Less Mouseclicks..

    Give us a 'super-advanced-all-options-in-one-view' view option.
