So I’m thinking about finally picking up iMaschine, but had a question about expansions. I’ve spent a ridiculous amount of money getting Komplete 12 Ultimate plus a ton of other expansions over the last year or so. If I pick up iMaschine, will I have to re-purchase all of the iOS versions, or will I be able to sign in to my NI account and unlock everything I already paid for on desktop?

I went ahead and took the plunge since I wasn't getting any answers. You do not get the iOS versions of the expansions, as iMaschine does not tie in to your Native Instruments account.

The good news is: iOS expansions only cost .99 cents each. They're much more limited than the desktop versions, containing only about 5-10 kits each on average. Still, not bad for a dollar. There's also a bundle you can buy that gives you about half of them for $9.99.

It's definitely not as fully featured as the desktop version but not a bad way to sketch out ideas on your iPhone or iPad before moving the project over to the desktop.

Thanks. I’d looked further and decided they weren’t free. As you say 99c isn’t bad, nir is the big bundle. I’m going to get the ipad camera kit first then take it from there

It’s okay. Pretty limited in what it can do, but not bad for sketching out some quick ideas. Plenty of iOS apps can do that, though, so really the draw is easy integration with desktop Maschine and the option to purchase the same sound packs. If those things don’t matter to you, I’d look elsewhere. I don’t see myself using it a ton but it’s good to have.

I mostly want a simple pattern maker on an iPad so I can play along without firing-up a computer. It seems fine for that and much cheaper than buying a drum machine!
