So I recently have started to make the jump from messing with electronic instruments to the actual electronics. I made some contact mics in the past week and was wondering about using piezo's to trigger a sampler in Reaktor. Has anyone done this yet, and posted any results? If so I was unable to find them. I figure BertAnt and Aleks will figure into this as their audio to midi ensemble would most likely be a good starting point. I envisioned last night while lying in bed the following: I would make an effect in Reaktor that is a drum sampler triggered by the input of the piezo. The ensemble might contain four intruments, each being a sampler, and each responding to its own audio input. (the piezo). Any thoughts? Note I am not a drummer or electrician so if what I suggest is questionable feel free to point out why that is, thanks.

Also just to spark speculation, who else feels as though something big is just over the horizon for NI as complete is on sale for 399 right now? Should be a bunch of new toys coming out this fall, I hope Reaktor is one of them.

Either that, or NI just needed some quick cash & this was a good way to do it. Fingers crossed though, even though I might need to sell a kidney to update to R6.

    Piezo?

Do you mean Trigger a drum sample with Audio input from a mic?

If so you should use Peak Detector.

    cheers...

Thank you very much Sleen, AudioTrigger worked out of the box. Also thank you Aleks for your infinite wisdom I will be sure to try that solution also. Oh and just to let you know it if a lot of fun triggering drums from everything.

I took some of that foam that has edges like puzzle pieces (for the floor of a child's room, the edges are interlocking) and cut a little rectangle out about four by eight inches, cut out a copy, and put the piezo in the middle than sealed the edges with stage tape. It is a lot of fun is what I meant to say in my previous post, not if. I can attest to the fun I have already had. To BertAnt, I have used other audio tracks but I don't think I have done the triggering of the drums via the mic before this. I thought my solution was economical, but you don't even need the foam from an old neighbor. ;) Audio to midi is fun I now feel bad for not getting some more use out of the ens. that you and Aleks made, damn.

Triggering is even more fun than audio to MIDI that includes pitch detection, because you can get an almost zero latency response from not having to detect the pitch at all :)
