    hello all,

so here i am with my laptop...a dell xps 2.3 core duo 2gb ram and all the fixins...except...my hard drive is small! 80GB! and i am also a gamer! anyhow i have about 10 gb left.

so here i am at frys electronics today, and i see many, many external hard drives...

i wanted something with around 250gb, and bus powered...they do have bus powered drives, but the max buffer you get is 8mb, and a 5400 rpm speed....

i decided to go with the buffal0 250gb bus powered drive.... the only gripe i have is i found out that when i choose a track from the drive, and drag it over to deck a or b, it takes maybe 1.5 or 2 seconds for the track to actually load up...other than that it works nicely...

anyhow i was curious to see if others are using bus powered drives with 5400 rpms, or the more larger and dc powered ones...the one i got seriosuly fits in the palm of my hand--its about the size of 2 iphones.

    thanks!

You should try FireWire drives they're faster...or try AC powered drives with Turbo from Buffalo...my friend and I have one....no problems at all!

yeah i wanted a firewwire as well, but my motu ultralie sound card takes up the firwire spot....

anyhow i enjoy my purchase of the buffallo mini station....even though it is 8mb cache...

my question is how much of a difference would i notice i bumped the cache up to lets say 16 or 32?

Well not much difference....try it and see how your system handles it with different bpm and loops!
