I love my Maschine and I love my drum samples, and I have alot of them, so library/tagging management is important for me. The browser implementation in Maschine is fine for basic management and when you have a fairly small library, but when the tag list keeps growing it isn't that user friendly any more.

What I would love to see is an external app that is designed for only managing your library. The most important features I would like, that is missing in the current implementation is:
    • Renaming of tags
    • Removing of empty tags

    Thank you. :)

totally agreed! since i installed win 7 a few months ago i only load up my own samples via disk browser in the software cause i dont really wanna go through the pain-in-the-ass of retagging them all again with that crappy interface that doesnt allow any errors. :/
as an alternative, directly browsing through my folder structure from the controller would do it for me. is this so hard to implement or did the devs just dont think of it yet?

not being able to really delete or remove tags, or change your mind, it's all wack. Sometimes you can remove them by "removing parameter" just make sure those sounds are tagged with something else so you don't lose them all together lol.

Better tag/category management is a must for sure.

Speak on it Fam, speak on it! lol. It needs some sort of an overhaul for sure. A bit limited at the moment but then again, we're in the beginning stages of the revolution so we'll see what gives.

im in the process of getting ready to move to a new computer, I want to bring my database over to the new one instead of remaking all my kits and tagging all my samples.

however, since theres is a bit of "junk files" like leftover tags and attributes, I'm seriously considering rebuilding my library when I get the new machine lol.

if we could clean/purge empty categories and attributes easily, it wouldn't be an issue.

Yeah, I have been using a combo of folder organization and AudioFinder for controlling how I access all my samples so far, but now that I've added Maschine to the mix, with its own set of tags as well, I'd like to have some way to tie all of this stuff in together, and an external library viewer/editor would be good. I love AudioFinder because of its really nice set of tools for saving favorites (without moving them!) and its drag and drop with Logic's Media Bin, and its handling of REX2 files as well. If it added Apple Loop tagging and Maschine tagging, I would be in heaven.

Of course, aiming for the moon, they could throw a REX2 auditioner/player in, so that I could play the slices in any desired order with either the Maschine hardware or my MIDI keyboard...

I find myself messing around with the slices a lot just in Recycle, so it would be real nice to have a semi-standalone but more flexible REX2 playback system than Recycle and the 7 8 9 keys or going through loading the slices into a project.

There's gotta be some third-party software that does what I want for REX2 files, but I have yet to see it, and a library editor for Maschine would be the place I would want to use it anyway.

I'd like to see an automatic tag applied to any sample that I, as the user, add to the library, much the way Kontakt, Massive, etc, tag additional libraries of sounds so you can search just through that library. That would also help manage duplicate or unneeded user samples as well.

Ben, AudioFinder seems very nice. Wow. Just when I thought Basehead SFX had the file management side of things cornered you proved me wrong. Now they just have to give PC user's the same freedom. NI if you're listening, AudioFinder looks very very feasible for a file management system. ;) ;)

Bleh! Anything other than the way it's current "management facilities" are implemented would be an improvement. NI, please go back and look at the Kontakt or even Battery method of handling samples, or what the users above are suggesting. This feature's handling is really one of my top 5 gripes with Maschine right now. :S

I honestly wish they'd just make library integration optional.

I don't understand when you guys are asking for removing tags? I have no problem adding and removing tags. I would like more categories slots (meaning adding additional columns) so i can be more specific.

even if you remove a tag from a set of samples, it remains in the database as a choice when tagging other samples.

I've been able to "remove attribute" and that sometimes will remove the tag from the database.

if you start tagging, then change your mind as to how you want to tag stuff, it quickly fills up your database with a bunch of leftover tags...even if they aren't being used for anything

they don't show up when you're browsing, but they show up when you're tagging new samples...

I think they should let chicken systems or cdextract handle it. But really since 1.5 will recognize MPC Programs you should be able to use bluebox. But I don't know how they will accommodate the MPC using ABCD banks.

that would handle creating kits and stuff, but we want to be able to actually clean the database up as well. From unused tags/samples, and keep a lean mean production Maschine

yea the search engine is not that hot, it slows down production you should be able to search thew your kits not just by sound! browse/kits and also i see that the knob being used to search "knob 5"should or could be the same knob you use to audition the samples since your already using it to scroll up and down threw them, just turn the knob 5 and hit the pad as you scroll threw them instead of using button 5 and 7 to search threw sounds. the key here is quick and efficiency!
