I got my Mixer ( Reloop Effex Titan ) which is great to work with. What I miss now is the pre listening function of Traktor. Does anybody have an idea how to use the external mixer and bring the pre listening back ? ( I miss it cause if you load a song in a deck, it adds to the playlist ... not very nice )

Good question. I assumed the pre-listening window would disappear with the mixer if you opted for the external mixer.

Since Traktor isn't letting the user assign a monitor channel ( that's otherwise taken care of within the external mixer), maybe that function just doesn't apply to external mixers.

Perhaps NI should consider modifying Playlist procedures to indicate tracks played briefly, assuming that would indicate they were just "pre-listened" instead of played as part of a set.

I'm not a fan of the preview player anyway, so using an external mixer, if I want to refer to the playlist later then I end up just deleting what I didn't play during a set from the playlist... (for some reasong I have a farily good memory of what I did and didn't play - so I would know what to delete later manually from the playlist - but if someone asks me what I played two tracks ago I go totally blank... now I can check the playlist on the spot and look it up!)

Another issue with the preview player is that it triggers even when there's no way to listen to it, such as without an external sound card too.

why not use the pre listening on you external mixer ?

I asume you use 4 outputs on your soundcard ?

than I don't see any problem

I have a Gigaport AG Interface with four channels.

But Traktor doesn't let me assign a third channel to the pre listening function. I can only assign the two required channels for the decks.

as I said if you use an external mixer it has 99% sure a pre listening option .. like all external mixers do

why should you use 3 stereo tracks ?
if you can use the external mixer

    i don't see the problem really ...

With a 3rd output you could use the preview player on an external mixer. ;)

    yes that's true

but i've you drag a track to the not playing deck you can pre listen too ... by using the external mixer pre listening option ... and if you think you want to mix it .. it's right there

    but i got the point ... ;)

glad you got the point, because if you read his first post, ricombination wanted to avoid adding unplayed tracks to the playlist, which occurs every time you add a track to the deck. The pre-listen function avoids this.

    Cheers,
    Trev.
