What’s up all...So I run Maschine 2, Pro Tools, and Komplete 12 Ultimate on a 2017 Mac Book Pro (Catalina). I’ve been using 2 separate external hard drive to store and run my sound libraries. I’m planning on upgrading to an external 1TB SSD Drive, and running all my sounds from that. Just wondering what you all are using...What has worked best...and what suggestions you may have as far as which brand and model to purchase. My budget is less than $200.

All feedback is appreciated. Thanks in advance!!!

I'm on Windows, i have the maschine sequencer on my systemdrive along with the plugins.

All my libraries are on a synology NAS connected on 1 Gbit.

I can't help you with the 200$ question so i'll leave that one to answer for someone else.

Overall it's running pretty Running smooth

Access speed is the issue you have to consider when accessing stored data remotely. If you are using USB then any drive cos the USB will be the bottle neck. If you have thunderbolt then that is the option to use, or firewire via the Thunderbolt socket. Thunderbolt will be the new USB4 so you do not have to worry about future proofing
