    Hello,

Using TRAKTOR 3 with an external mixer (XONE42 and Traktor DJ 8), two X1 (MK1) and a F1 I have a issue switching to the step sequencer user map (via shift+browse). When I switch the first time, the steps are lit, the sequencer is playing, but no samples are triggered, when I press shift also the capture and type are not lit to set the groove. Now, when i press shift+browse again, to switch back to normal mode and then switch+browse again to switch back to sequencer mode, everything works. To switch between the modes i have to repeat this (press shift+browse 3 times) to make it work. Would be nice that it worked after pressing shift+browse for the first time. Anyone?

    Thanks,
    Tim

Another issue i have is that when i for example put a clap on step 1 and step 9, they dont play nice, sometimes it plays it full, sometimes just a part? When i do this on like 3 7 11 15 they do play nice. Please NI fix this, would be nice that people can actually use the step sequencer.

This is unfortunately the issue with the step sequencer on the F1. I have the same issue. Below you can read the answer from NI when I addressed this issue.

    Answer NI d.d. 19-12-2019

When the F1 first cam out, it was purely designed as a Remix Deck Controller in its default mapping, with the possibility to switch to either the "MIDI Mode" (Generic Midi) OR to the "USER Mode" (also a NHL mapping, like the default)
This switch between these modes works without issues and the Kontrol F1 was designed with this in mind.

Several years later the "Step Sequencer" mode was born, out of a NI internal "Hack Day" event and some of our developers (Which sadly are not here anymore) found a clever solution on how the Remix Decks can be used for Step Seqencing.

However, since this was and is more or less a "hack" - the option to reliably switch between the Default and the Step Sequencer Mapping was seemingly not implemented and the controller allocation does not work in a reliable and comprehensible way.

The colleague i was talking to also mentioned that it was not designed to be used together with regular Remix Sets, since the Step Sequencer relies on short "one-shot" samples and a Remix Deck on longer loops or samples, that play and loop or only play once.

So in reality, the few users who do use Remix Decks and Step Sequencers in the same setup, do not switch between the modes, they use a Remix Deck on one side and the Step Sequencer setup on the other and keep it this way.

I have also asked if there would be a possibility to change this behaviour and improve the controller allocation after switching, but since there is so little demand from other users, the effort to rework the Step Sequencer implementation would be extremely time consuming and there are sadly other, higher prioritized features and bug fixes on the TP3 roadmap first.

    This is completelly understandable.

Sadly such roadmap has been asked for years, and not shared to users.

After the experiments of Remix decks and Stems, Traktor is so far behind that I highly doubt there is any competitor intelligence issue here. Its just catchup.

But such would help users a lot, IMO.
