F1 in a mood

Hi there, my traktor kontrol f1 was working fine with my pro scratch 2 for months. Went to use it a few days ago and it was not working/missing, scratch cant find it, device manager says it needs a driver, I've clicked on update driver and gone through all steps in troubleshooting and my computer says "windows cannot install F1" (sic) It lights up for a second when I plug it in, but then cannot be found and doesn't appear in the settings of scratch. I have gone through all the steps in the troubleshooter; changed cable, port, restart, manual driver update, reinstalled scratch, updated scratch etc so now I'm out of ideas. PS: I tried all of the Download and Installation tools (access, NI downloader, website, and service centre). Controller editor doesn't acknowledge it, the "connect" button is greyed out.
Anybody got any ideas? (I've raised a ticket with NI three days ago and it was looked at but not heard anything)
It just seems to be in a mood with me and I don't know why!
