    Hi folks.

I used the tutorial from the NI site to set up my F1's for step sequencer.
    - I loaded the mapping to deck C and D (I have 2 F1's)- midi mode is on "user map"
    - deck C and D are "remix decks"
    - I load a remix deck (drums and beatboxes)
    - I press shift browse to load the step sequencer mapping

now the first pad is yellow and the other pads are blue. there is nothing I can do. I can't play anything or load a sample...
    What did I do wrong?

    Thx

Most obvious answer, your deck isn't playing. I'm not kidding.

You need 2 mappings, one for each side, right? Each one must be the right one for that deck.
Does that happen with only one F1? Check what mapping is activated and if that is the right one for that F1.
Is the mapping the correct one for that side of deck?
Check if there is any conflict between your 2 F1? Are they recognized as two different F1. Do they work correctly when using remix decks?
Are they correctly configured for the ports?

What I don't get is why you wouldn't be able to load a sample or remove one? Even with the mouse?
    Hope you'll find the solution.

Also I haven't heard or seen anything about using 2 F1s for the separate mappings.
It could very well work and seems to make sense that it should, but maybe try one F1 sequencer mapping at a time (don't select ports for one to disable it).
And also the preferences under the F1 tab have a "user map" or "midi map" mode. I think it is "midi map" you need selected.
Sorry this I don't use the F1 sequencer as it conflicts with other mappings I have for the F1.

No it's not, the step sequencer mapping is a user one.

Oops. Yeah I always think midi mode because that is the name of the preference.
But anyway that needs to be correctly selected as "user". Sorry for the confusion.

This was my first thought as well. I don't have any other suggestions though, as I haven't even given the sequencer feature a go (and probably won't).

Regarding 2 F1s - I don't know if they've changed anything since introducing the step sequencer but, in the past, it was impossible to run two F1s in user mode simultaneously. When you'd switch modes on one F1, the other would automatically revert to its default mode. I've never understood why this was an issue, so long as both controllers have been configured in Controller Editor (rename F1-1 and F1-2). I doubt NI has done anything to fix this although they really should now, with the addition of the sequencer. Nevertheless, you could manually map both units in MIDI mode for simultaneous use.
