Some of the buttons on my Z2 are starting fail from being pressed too many times. Anyone here know what part I need to replace the failing buttons. The cue buttons need much more pressure to register than other buttons. I know this voids my warranty but I think my mixer is past warranty. Your help is greatly appreciated.

I had the same issue with mines after about a year. i ended up selling for a decent price before the issue got bad and buying a new one the difference was for me worth it vs trying to fix it.

I also had the same issues on the S4 and also on some denon controllers. I notice the pioneer buttons on the CDJs seem much more durable because i used the Z2 with the Pioneers CDJs and to date have no issues with the button response.

The Pioneers stop/start buttons on some CDJs were a problem and needed replacing from time to time. Not sure what part they use now. Anyways, I digressed. I believe the part i need for the Z2 to be a simple button like this one but, I am not sure.

Anyone? This feel like no mans land when it comes to asking questions sometimes.

I wanna ask @DJ Freshfluke but, since she works support I am sure she will strongly urge i do not take my mixer apart or suggest the part I can use to repair it.

For the record the mixer is great and has gotten somewhere like 1000hrs of play time and about 150,000 or more button presses on some of the buttons. So I'm not complaining just trying to get back to 100%.

@DJ Freshfluke . Thanks, I now think the mixer is under warranty. I have to check how long the warranty is for and which one of the mixers i bought first since I have 2. Hopefully they'll send me my same mixer back if they fix it.

Thank you @DJ Freshfluke and everyone else who chimed in. It turned out my Z2 was out of warranty. I soldered in a new switch but, warn other against trying to do so. It was very difficult.

Irv I'm just letting you know their is a $400 out of warranty fee for the Z2. You submit a NI ticket and send it to their repair facility. It will cost you $400 to replace your broken one (if it's out of warranty). The maschine studio would cost me $450 (if it broke). Don't send it or take it to a an unauthorized repair facility. My friend took his maschine mk2 to a guy and the tech screwed it up. Now it's not working.

@skinsfandc thanks for the tip. I am somewhat handy with a soldering iron so I was able to repair Z2. It cost me $3 for 100 replacement buttons but soldering it in was a hassle. There is about 40-50 screws before you can get to the board with the switches. Again, I don't recommend anyone try to swap out the switches.

It would be great if NI could get repairs done by RANE.

Native Instruments if you are listening. Put the switches in a replaceable 4 pin socket. It will allow your repair center to swap out the switches much easier.

Thank you. It honestly took me a long time because the old switch did not want to come out.

Also worth noting is that the build quality of the Z2 is pretty amazing. I was surprised to see a PCB that pretty coming out of a Chinese built mixer.
