is it possible? thinking about getting this program. currently using reason, and finding it deficient in getting that particular bass i need. looking for something along the lines of meat beat manifesto's song "hankercheif head" from the album RUOK. if you know meat beat manifesto at all, you'll know what bass i'm talking about, his trademark deep boom. how do you all like absynth on the bass end of things? it certainly looks like a lot of fun to use.

hey man - I have created a lot of phat bass sounds - but many of the sounds are so phat or less phat that it is a very subjective thing or even a phat bass with a little extra - so yes, it is feasable. It really depends on just what the heck you are really looking for. I use reason - but not as much as I should ns that is a very unexplored application as are a number of others.

absynth can do a lot of wild **** - it is up to you to create or find that particular entity that fits YOUR GROOVE.

I know Jack D plays the bass on many of his tracks... so you may just be looking for a good electric bass sound with good EQing and compression. Might want to check out Trilogy by spectrasonics for electric bass sounds.

well, thank you for the tips. i didn't really even think about the live bass issue. are you familiar with the track "hankercheif head" off RUOK? that's the bass i'm going for, and i guess on the high end it sounds smooth like a bass guitar, but it sounds kinda synthetic and modulated on the low end. huge booming. good stuff.

whether or not it can do great bass, which i suspect it can, i just downloaded the demo, and absynth is awesome! love drawin waveforms--must get soon!

It can definitely do fat bass, I use it for that all the time.
