but if i say i am doing an improv gig. then my current favourite

i like it because it has a unique way of modulation and also a very flexible filter.

also there is a nice random note and gate player.

i have done quite a few modifications using ideas from
dcoffin's tutorial. specifically the event table modulation (also used in vox humana).

i have also used kev hopper's stella. but i have modified it so much that it is now quite different form the original.

for sampling stuff i have modified "plasma" and "triptonizer"
.ens from way back. they are now very flexible with recordable
XYs and "scene selections". both of these go through envelope shapers, pitch shift, filter, vowel morph and a granular effect called "shred" also from way back when reaktor was version 2.

also james walker hall's 3X is starting to get a lot of use. this is
just a superbly put together synth with all kinds od flexible modulations. it has a really good implementation for FM. i have modified with some clist BPM looped ramp envelopes.

I perform ambient music live. Here's what I have been using with Reaktor:

Carbon--There are some great pads to make with those filters.
Uranus--I love the textured pads it makes. "Mystery Pad" is one of my favorites. I also find it fairly easy to use and to manuver in a live setting.

Steampipe--I like the steam sounds I can create from it. They can give a strange, mysterious industrial flavor.

Titan--Although it has become buggy in R4, there are just so many cool leads and pads. It could have been such a great synth, although it takes a while to learn it. I still use it, but usually I have to remove the effects from my patch (snapshot) because notes get stuck and start to feedback uncontrollably.

Spacemaster--a great reverb and effects box that can stretch the most inane sound into a vast spacey pad.

Green Matrix--What a wacky synth. The oscillators have neat sounds, but the animated XY grid allow you to make some unusal sounds.

Scenario--I have finally got around to experiment with it just the other day. Although I have not used it out live yet, I think I will find it to be quite useful. At first I thought it was just a beat box, but when you start adding your own samples it becomes a whole lot more.

Vierring--I have made some very unusal percussive tracks that I like to use far back in the mix. I've just started inputting different synths into it, and I realize it has even more potential.

Sometimes I use Reaktor as a standalone, but usually I combine different synths and effects via Chainer.
