The Online user library is getting very large. Which user ensembles do people like best? I'm mainly looking for interesting synths at the moment, but any other suggestions are also welcome.

    hmmm... self advertising anyone?

i quite like my FUJI pad synth, even though I don't use it much anymore. give it a go. just search for "FUJI". There's also my simple jungle bass synth, Grotesk.

    cheers

    simon,

i don't know if this counts as "interesting," but it is a very well crafted, rich-sounding synth:

    BTS-Dream by Anders Sevaldson

    cheers,

    Here's some old threads from this forum related to "Favorite Ensembles" and "Favorite Designers";

    http://www.nativeinstruments.de/forum/showthread.php?threadid=2095

For myself, the things I end up using the most are things that I've either built myself, or someone else's ensemble that I've rebuilt to the point that it's barely recognizable. "Loop Rippa" and "Normal 2" in the user lib are two good examples. They're not ground-breaking or anything, but they get the job done for the sort of music I'm into and I know them well.

Outside of that, I think "StabMachine" is a great idea well implemented. "NewScool_r3" from the "New in Reaktor 3" library has some of the most wild tricks of Reaktor builing I've seen (the horizontal scroll / zoom bars alone are pretty amazing pieces of work). "Tuscon" in the Essentials lib is nothing fancy but has some really nice mellow presets.

I think a lot of folks (myself included) make a lot of little one-off types of things just for getting one sort of sound, and then we sort of forget about it.

yes john, maybe you should and then we could judge if they are any good.

    >"Tuscon" in the Essentials lib is nothing fancy but has some >really nice mellow presets.

i cannot find this? can you be a bit more specific.

your links cover most of my favourites. but i would like to again mention Siegmar Kreie, who has done some amazing stuff. organol is wonderful.

your loop rippa has to be one of the best beat loop manglers. thanks clist.

    erm, sorry, it's "Tucson"...

    Oops, sorry, spelling error there, it's "Tucson.ens". It's in;
    Essentials/Ensembles/Synths - FM

Thanks for the props. I think I've made enough changes lately to LoopRippa to warrant posting another version to the library, so you can find ver 1.125 (or is it 1.0125? or .0125?) out there. The biggest change is that you can now control the start/stop via MIDI note rather than from the sequencer controls. This seems to be a big request on the forum lately for other drum machines / sequencers, etc. and Origanosan asked me to add it to my ens. It allows you to more easily use it as a VST instrument. It was a quick change, and could be cleaned up a little (song sync in the LFO's is not tied to it when it's running under MIDI control, for example, though they will still be tied to the right BPMs), but it works.

i forgot to mention "shred", which is in the user library. this is my
favourite granular effect. it was uploaded a long time ago, so a lot of people might not know it. i love it.

btw clist, i only have the following 4 .ens in "Essentials/Ensembles/Synths - FM"

    FM-Shaker+4TapDelay.ens
    FM2Ops+Overdr.ens
    PercussiveFM.ens
    FatOverdriveFB.ens

is your r3 library more recent that mine? i upgraded when version first came out.

Tucson hasn't been on the library disk very long. I will post it to the user library shortly - not a new version, but there should be a few new snaps for those of you who already have Tucson.

    peace,

I really like instruments that aren't particulary versatile but force you to think in a certain way.

'Tick Tock' by Rachmiel immediately springs to mind as a quirky, stand out ensemble. I also like his 'harmodrone' - it just does one kind of thing.

I like many Didier Laboz things but my favourite is 'Hydrobeat' - really immediate, watery and silky.

I agree with Sowari that Sigmar Kriele's 'Organol' is incredible and easily my favourite Reaktor synthesiser. I'm surprised it doesn't get talked about as much as 'Heishere'.

I think a lot of instrument builders feel they have to have hundreds of knobs controlling every parameter, but the ones I'm really attracted to usually have a bare minimum of critical controls. They're generally more fun!

I would UL them, but I do not think anyone else would understand them. It's not like they are a little messy or something, but the concepts I am using would take a lot of documentation to make the ideas behind them clear enough so that the ensemble was usable.

I will do it when 4 gets out and I make some new stuff though.

if you provide snaps (patches) that demonstrate the width and breadth of an ensemble, it will be usable. unless, of course, the point of the ensemble is not the sound, but the idea behind it.

yes i agree spoombung. for instance the 2 versions of "InitDinger" are very good examples of "less is more".

i also fully agree with this rachmiel. come on john, share your stuff with us. from what you say it sounds like your .ens would
    blow a few minds.

Oh shutup for god sakes. I just uploaded Red2 barely over a week ago. God damnit.

And you wonder why I don't upload stuff -- no one appreciates it, and its a lot of work for me.
