I've got Traktor Scratch Pro 2. I've also got a 16 pad Maschine controller (also bought from NI). I would like to be able to access the 16 cells of the remix decks from my 16 pad NI controller via MIDI. That's all. I'm not bothered about the pretty RGB lights because my Maschine controller doesn't have pretty RGB lights.

This basic functionality is easily achievable by the MIDI protocol and should be made available to all your customers.

I don't need a new controller for something I could normally map.

Free upgrade, but to use it's "improvements" you have to buy the F1

even if I can understand to an extend the fact that you may need a specific controller to get the best out of the remix decks, not having the possibility to map some basic functions is just not understandable (and don't tell I should be happy to use the samples decks instead when all the communication about the next 'free' update has been made around the remix decks).

This is a huge disappointment. I enjoy crafting custom MIDI solutions. It's part of my DJing and my art. Up until now Traktor has made this possible. Please do not take that away or limit it.

I made an account just to express how disappointed i am with NI. I have purchased many of their products in the past and i feel like this is a stab in the back. Versatility and djing go hand in hand, and that's the thing i loved about traktor. But with this new decision i feel like it may be time to move on to Ableton or another program:(

I think it's a shame that NI is going backwards towards a closed system when mapping is what made them big.

The One DJ software is around the corner and looks very open and interesting and Bitwig will be even better for DJing than Ableton, things can change real quick...

This is very disappointing indeed. The limitations and challenges with customizing the NI Kontrol S4 is the reason I sold mine and replaced it with a Vestax VCI-400 EGE. The S4 is an amazing controller, but to be truly creative I believe the hardware needs to flexible and customizable. I've been a huge Traktor fan for years, but if this hardware/software lock down trend continues I will be hesitant to continue supporting NI. I'm of the opinion that you if you do your homework and design an excellent product with innovative features people will want it. The Kontrol F1 looks like a great controller and I don't think NI needs to lock down the software to sell it. I think this is a step in the wrong direction NI. If you are really committed to pushing creativity in this industry please don't impose restrictions like this on your customers. Thanks for listening.

I've also spent hundreds of hours creating custom midi maps in Traktor for several different controllers over the years. To me this is what Traktor is all about. I like that I can customize the midi mapping to my style of DJing. Midi customization really is a huge part of my DJing and has played a major role in my growth as a DJ. Please don't expect us to adjust our style of DJing to fit the software and controllers. There are enough carbon copy DJ's out there already.

+1, I'm really disappointed with NI's decision here and hope for their sake that they reconsider!

    I own an S4 + Maschine --> 879Euro+579Euro = 1458 Euro spent for NI equipment!
And now I am meant to buy an additional controller to use the remix decks?
Free upgrade to Traktor 2.5 for all registered users but nobody will be able to use it?
    Is this a bad joke?
You had better unlock the remix decks and enable everybody to map it on his controller.
The path you're taking is going to start a huge wave of negative reviews and posts!
    WE'RE DISAPPOINTED!

please keep it to the facts: you're not able to use all features of the remix decks without the F1, but you're able to use some. plus some more via mouse.

plus you're getting all other improvements, too, e.g. like the bpm detection.

Admittedly we are the minority here. Most controller DJs don't map, and I believe ignoring our voices will not affect the sales of NI hardware/software for the coming year or two. But I say the same goes for the other option. Even if all features were mappable, the great majority will still want a pre-configured hardware solution. The only difference is that NI will continue to get passionate support from the advanced DIY midi mappers, which are no doubt turned off by this particular move.

What is the benefit I can take from the remix decks in comparison to my old sample decks?
    Almost zero, right?

You all have in mind, that the Remix Decks are not the only new Feature in 2.5?

You are right, that's pain in the ass, to buy a new Controller for using the Remix Decks.
But on the other hand, you get a new BPM Detection and the "Simple" Sample Decks get new additions.

    Just for thinking.

Various improvements, like Switchable Sync for the Decks, TC/Jog Control etc.

Nice small improvements but isn't the 16 sample matrix the key feature what it's all about in the new Traktor Pro 2.5 update? Everything else doesn't seem to affect my workflow in any kind.
