I've seen people say that they do not like the filters within Maschine. I am just getting into using filters and digging deeper with eq. I like to pull drums from breaks and a lot of my music now is sample based. For those that do not like the filters and eqs within Maschine, are there any that you would recommend? And also, this is probably a stupid question but are there simply filter VSTs?

Thanks sowari. I appreciate that. I tried that originally but it didn't help. Everything I looked at looked more involved then a simple filter. I guess more what I was getting at if say I wanted to add a low pass filter on a bassline, would I benefit from anything more then the stock LP filter in Maschine? I'm just wondering if it would be worth the money or if I would even notice a difference in the sound quality. And if so, which ones people might recommend.

check the fabfilter range great user interface and some smooth sounds

the main ones are the micro and the volcano also check twin 2 a nice synth from fabfilter.

ive also heard good things about psp nitro but the interface is not as straight ahead a fabfilter.

cannot beat the filters on the URS plugins IMO - PSP are very good too - neither are the cheapest but I have tried many over the years and they are my goto every time i wanna shut frequencies out, or run a good quality sweep.

Can't get much better than Fabfilter... Micron is a bargain! Volcano is good for more complex manipulation.

Also, an honorable mention for Sugar Bytes WOW.

Other than that, there's Soundtoys Filterfreak (a bit on the pricy side though) and the filters in PSP N20 (was Nitro) are great too.

Thanks jpeg! I'm checking out the demos now. I like the Micro. It's simple and not too difficult for me to start with. Might be a good starting point.

Another VERY simple to use (and free) one is from the Togu Audio Line series simply called TAL-Filter here:

    http://kunz.corrupt.ch/products/tal-filter

Pretty much every product by TAL delivers quality, and you can't go wrong with the price!

As far as EQ's go it would be worth checking out Fabfilter's Pro-Q, DMG Audio's EQuality and PSP Neon (which is on sale for $99... 60% off until the end of the month).

PSP also do a set of 'analog modelled' EQ's called sQuad which are rather nice too.

to clear any confusion, thats the URS I was talking about - they are the **** !

as a further to the above and to the Op or anyone else - do you have electronic instruments by NI? THe ANIMO is amazingly versatile as a filter.

I bought this years ago with Reaktor 3.5 or something, unsure if this is available free nowadays and think it may have come with the latest Reaktor update - don't know if it works in the player or not......

    drawn? as in a sweep?
you can't, but you can assign a sawtooth LFO to it which will do the trick.

oh i c. maybe that could be a feature in the next update? i think it would be very helpful in very precise filtering and such. filtering with the knob by hand is cool too though.
