And what's that got to do with the fact that this is a USER forum. This is users helping users, end of story.

Completely wrong. The definition of a user forum is that only users participate. It's not intended to be anything else. Now pull your head in.

I feel like they know this thread exists. Like no one on the NI team has ever done a search on google and had this thread come up. I'm sure they are well aware of this. I'd hope that the issue is just really hard to solve and they have been trying like hell to solve it but being quiet about it. I'd hope. They put a lot of time and effort into the S4 so It leads me to believe that they probably care just a little about getting this resolved but if you think your voices aren't being heard then copy a link to this thread and email customer support and say "Hey are you guys working on this? It would be nice to know that you are working on this. Please let me know. Thank you"

Only users participate but a clever company always listen to it's users, Ableton for example has always been proud of that and their users forum which is not even moderated. :p

So i just bought an S4 last week. instantly figured out there was something wrong with glitches and crackling sounds.
my laptop is very very well taken care of, i upgraded the ram and HD myself after i bought it. it def exceeds the system requirements...but i still get glitches. its not so bad now after "optimization". but i still get a crackle here and there especially when running effects and more than two decks at once.

I figured id just buy a Mac. but i personally despise mac. ive always felt Mac doesnt do anything that Windows cant do.
Im being reluctant towards buying it but i think this may be the quickest solution as i have a gig coming up this weekend.

Im dissapointed that as a first time user of Traktor this is such a major issue for so many...not only myself.

I havnt given up hope yet on making it work with some more "optimization techniques"
but its definitely discouraging by reading so many complaints about this issue alone.

i hope NI gets moving on a solution pronto.

to be honest its to late to work on this a year later.
it problay is something fundmentaly wrong at base of it so its not easy to fix?
(might have to do with the soundcard (cheap parts)or some other parts rather than just the driver). there are reasons to why some sound cards cost more even they most give 96khz 24 bit. there are parts you dont heare about here like connections, signal to noise ratio, frequency response and many more things as as what they are build of.

personaly i think 1 year later is to late, they should rather come with nice new controller that is build properly and a through test been done b4 release.(i really hope they do that soon,
(personally i find s2 a waste of money that just isnt worh 500, and thats my personal opnion)

still there are some good tips in this thread for those who has problems,
like using a different sound card.:p

.. must say, I find myself scratching my head why it's taking so long.

I use audio hardware that has run on Windows for 10-15 years without a glitch, through 6 major upgrades and a dozen or so driver rewrites. This system handles 128 'physical' I/0s (ADDA) as well as 128 'stream' I/0s to mutliple apps on the same Windows computer. Not to mention numerous other powerful routing and DSP features it handles with total stability and absolute ease. By comparison NIs drivers need to 'cope' with about 4 ins and outs and comparatively little processing.

It strikes me that perhaps NI don't actually have the expertise to write solid drivers or design solid hardware that works reliably on Windows. Yes, they create wonderful, innovative software but as far as running Audio IFs on Windows they seem lost.

The problem is that only a small fraction of users are actually experiencing the issues. It is difficult to trace issues that only happen on a small number of systems. There are a ton of very satisfied customers who use all the latest versions with no problem whatsoever. If the drivers were that bad then everyone would be having the problem.I understand it is very frustrating for those small percentage of people who are affected but without knowing exactly what is going on in the affected systems it is difficult to isolate the problem.

    so far............. :'(

its becoming a headache i tried all the tweaks and off this and on this so my computer will work on top shape but my problem is still there when i switch to the S4 audio card the browser works effects work but got no play no samples no cue no sound on headphones.. then i switch to my m-audio soundcard and the S4 works nearly perfect well... everything works except i still dont have cue sound on my headphones and no control on main level that's it everything else works but if we cant listen to the cue how are we gonna mix?...(by the way this is on my new HP pavillion windows7) aghhhhhHHHH! but i did kinda found a temporary solution.....jiji i installed it on my old comp (HP pavillion windows XP) and did all the tweaks to the comp uninstall all the programs only left traktor and my S4 works! the soundcard works everything on it works sound on headphones main level works (i haven't tried it with the m-audio soundcard) the only downside which is a big one the comp is to old and can barely keep up with the program now i have the crakles and pops everyone's been writing about..... but still experimenting i wish i could use it on windows7 anithing new i'll post guys

Then how is it possible that most people, including me, have absolutely no problems whatsoever with the internal soundcard of the S4?

It's more likely that it has something to do with certain USB-chipsets; same problem with lots of external soundcards and certain FireWire-chipsets.

if u r using different sound card than u need to go to setup and adjust setting so that you can get cue(headphone ) sound trhough one of your soundcard outputs.
    check traktor bible .
still i cant believe its usb chip problem as other sound card works fine for those with problems except s4`s own.

the best advice i know is formatt and reinstall windows first and do all the updates and tweek your laptop b4 installing traktor.
and if it still dosent work just use a different soundcard as the last option.

I did have glitches when I scrolled through a browser list. Aside from the playlist glitches I could hammer Traktor and it'd be pretty solid - 4 decks, FX, EQ, DVS, etc. I tried EVERY optimization tip ever written to fix the glitches, and finally fixed them by disabling the ACPI-compliant battery device and reinstalling DirectX and my nVidia drivers and setting them all to performance over quality.

I played a glorious set, 3 hours long, which went absolutely perfectly. I was so happy I bought software so I could take a complete dump of my entire system.

The next time I started Traktor it completely killed my laptop after 20 mins, a behaviour it has repeated ever since. If the CPU gets near to red, the laptop dies, instantly - lights out. I can't even play 4 samples at once, nor mix two tracks with EQ.

I don't expect anyone will have an answer. I just wanted to share my pain..

Well, I have Windows 7 on a crappy i3 Lenovo and my S4 works like a charm. All I have to do is make sure the WLAN and the anti-virus software are turned off.

so check it out. New Years Eve I had to play out so I did something so that it would go off without a hitch. I closed Traktor put the S4 back in the car grabbed my turntables and opened Serato. No issues whatsoever. Not sure how long I'll be keeping Traktor

Guys, I think it is fixed. I run it on my laptop, and no problem after 30 minutes of playing :) Tonight I'll try do work 2,3 hours to see how it goes.
