Is this the month that I finaly will be able to use my beloved Pro-53 again.

Went Logic and Mac OSX in feb so I have been waiting for the AU version.

When can I expect to be able to purchase and d/l the update?

    Thanks!

Just want to highlight the absurdity of the update policy. I can't be the only one who upgraded to the Pro-53 and then a month or so later went OSX and now hasn't used the thing in 6 months or more. And now we have to pay again for something we already paid for but haven't been able to use. I'm not sure if I'll update or not. I'm waiting to see how much another vintage 80's synth plug-in from a big hardware manufacter will cost.

If I upgrade, the Pro-53 will be the only commercial synth I had to pay for to use in OSX (without gaining _any_ new features).

c´mon. 29 €/$ for the download version is pretty fair. i don´t see your point at all.
we´re not talking about any stock corporation like microsoft or apple but about a little company making very great musicsoftware and having to watch how to pay their employees and maybe how to pay some additional employees in order to make things even better. mac osx jaguar screwed things up a little, with it´s initial main issues, lack of appropriate 3.rd party hardware drivers and by introducing another quite redundant plugin standard.

oops, while thinking about it: the osx vst upgrades should be free while the AU versions should be very expensive. ;)

hey if you think it's fair that's cool. i resent having paid already for something i haven't used. it is to some extent my own fault for purchasing the upgrade before i knew the terms/time frame of NI's OSX upgrade policy. i didn't expect it to take over six months, though. i think the wait was excessive, and trying to recoup the expense from customers who have already invested heavily in the product (started as pro-5) is shady. windows users haven't had to pay again, and no other software i own had me pay for an upgrade without getting any new features. but whatever... the next issue will be whether or not this paid upgrade will be reliable as an audio unit. we'll see.

Why again? The update from Pro-52 to Pro-53 was free.

The writers of the previous post have been sacced. The caterers providing food for the previous post's writers have been sacced. The internet provider giving access to the previous post's writers has been sacced. All llamas used in the production of the previous post have been sacced, butchered, and fed to the writers.

mrfett has been bitchslapped and sacced also (he coulda swore he had paid for the update, but says his memory failed him, as it has been a friggin long time...)

    What happened?

Hey Steffen what happened with September availability for PRO-53?

The interfaces page now says October... must have had serious problems in the porting process huh?

    NO!

I have been waiting for MONTHS for this! It's the only instrument missing, and I use it so extensively that i am effectively disabled from opening any of my old tunes. Someone could at least apologise for having mislead us about the release date. Will it DEFINITELY be in october? promise?

The explaination is, that we first work on updates of FM7 OSX and B4 OSX (better AU support etc.) before we finish the work on the Pro-53 OSX version. I don't know the details, but there seems to be some important problems that needed to be fixed to satisfy these user too.

I'm sorry for the delay, but we have not infinite coding resources and must set priorites.

    Bye,
    Steffen

    hm

This is understandable - but isn't PRO-53 the oldest of these three, and deserving most of attention? how were these priorities decided on? have you made more sales of B4 and FM7, for example? or what?

And Steffen, I certainly don't expect you personally to apologise! I meant NI as a whole. I can understand these issues, but I have been waiting for PRO-53 on OSX since OSX was released!

I'd like to be reassured that the November timeline will actually happen.

and mrfett (bobba?) - your link doesn't work :/

Pro-*52* for OS X?!? (Only in my dreams?)

    Hello,

When NI upgraded to Pro 53, they deliberately allowed users to still use the Pro 52 as a separate instrument. I definitely appreciate this, in that the 52 and the 53 have different tonal characteristics; as such, I often use both in my compositions.

Now that NI is about to port Pro 53 over to OS X, I ask (full well knowing the answer): are there any plans to port over Pro 52 as well? That would definitely dull the pain of paying for the "upgrade" fee to change platforms.

    Thanks,
    Tony "Keynote" Sebro

Sorry, but there will be only no Pro-52 for OSX. I think this would be nearly the double amount of work for us. In the Pro-53 vs. Pro-52 case we must only ensure that we use different preferences and have new ids for the plugins, but for this it was not necessery to build a new Pro-52.

    Bye,
    Steffen

This is NI's worst cock-up in my opinion. Why the hell have we had to wait so long for the most classic synth EVER being ported to OS X?
And no reply yet regarding November. It is UNBELIEVABLY poor. Whoever makes decisions on 'priorities' at NI have obviously lost their marbles!! FM7 UPDATES take priority over this? So howcome we have TWO digital virtual synths for OS X (Absynth and FM7) and NO ANALOGUE synths (Unless you count the CPU gobbling Reaktor). I'm so pissed off!! Tina get the axe!! NI you suck bigtime.
