I purchased First Call Horns, but it couldn't pass AUVal invoked by Logic AU Manager, so I couldn't enable it without check the enable button manually. Thus it is categorized in [Incompatible], not Native Instruments... Despite the products was released after Tiger and Logic 7.1 upadte were released...

Logic Pro 7.1 always shows the aleart dialog when I run it...

There also be a bug when I use it in Logic Pro 7.1 and freeze tracks and save it, then I open the project again they playing no sounds... I have to re-instantiate First Call Horns and have to reload instruments manually and re-freeze it...

Please make updater for it ASAP or I will to trash it...

Be careful for Logic7.1 and Tiger user, it is not compatible yet...

I've had nothing but problems with First Call Horns using Logic Express 7.0 and 7.1 in Mac OS 10.3.9 and now with Logic Express 7.1 in Mac OS 10.4.1.

I'm running a 17" powerbook/1.67MHz/1.5GB/100GB 5400rpm/FW 200GB 7200rpm. I alternate between using the pb's built in audio and a MOTU 828mkII connected to a fw bus card in the pci expansion slot.

Hard drive streaming is not the problem. All I'm doing is trying to play back midi files. I can get a session set up and running with a number of Logic's instrument plugins (ESXP24, ES1, etc) and they work fine. As soon as I start using the Kontakt player plugin, that's when the trouble starts. I can get the Kontakt Instrument tracks going, but as soon as I start to add midi regions, or do any kind of editing, the crashing starts. Then the crashing becomes so frequent and constant that the projects seem to become corrupted and they won't open without crashing Logic on startup.

I've updated to the latest version of Kontakt Player (can't recall the version number), but to no avail. Nothing works.

I've done all the standard troubleshooting stuff too: disk permissions repair, prefs delete, fsck -fy, Disk Warrior.

I'm not even sure if it's Kontakt player or a Logic bug. All I know is, the money I've spent on the First Call Horns library has been a complete waste so far.

Is there anyone out there who can shed some light on this? can anyone give me any info that might help me?

I just purchased First Call Horns and am having the identical problem to that of user Woodwinds. It worked initially, but now crashes every time I load an instance of the Kontact player into Logic- the thing is useless at the moment, and I'm awaiting a Native Instruments email reply for my problem. Big Fish Audio passed the buck and says it's a Kontact player issue. Additionally, similar to user Woodwinds, the file I intially was using the Horns in now crashes regularly even without the plug-in running.... diabolical!

Also, I'm told by Big Fish Audio that I can't get a refund because I've registered the product- well I HAD to register the product just to download the Kontact update for First Call Horns prior to using it! Talk about getting run into a corner by both Big Fish Audio and the draconian security measures of NI.

Anybody found a solution to this?

    My system is as such:
Power Mac G5, 1.8 GHz, 1.256 GB RAM, Logic Pro 7.1, M-audio Keystation 88 keyboard etc.

Has anyone had success with First Call Horns?

I'm strongly considering purchasing this product (and the sale ends today, 8/1), but after reading this thread I'm holding off until I hear that this thing will work successfully in Logic 7.1. Has anyone used this plug-in without any problems?

I've got it working just fine in Logic Pro 7.1.

Here's some things to check (to each of you in this thread who are having problems):

The Kontakt 1.1.8.3 update is supposed to cure AU validation problems. So if you're still seeing them, something must have gone wrong with the 1.1.8.3 update. I would advise re-downloading that Kontakt Player update and re-applying it.

One of you mentioned that you're on 10.4.1. Definitely update to 10.4.2.

To do a FULL and complete reinstall of First Call Horns, trash the following:

/Applications/Big Fish/First Call Horns (the entire folder)
    /Library/Preferences/com.native-instruments.First Call Horns.plist
    /Library/Audio/Plug-ins/Components/FirstCallHorns.component
    /Library/Audio/Plug-ins/VST/FirstCallHorns.vst

Go into Logic, go to the Logic menu and choose Logic AU Manager, then once in the Logic AU Manager, hit reset and rescan all.

Quit Logic, reinstall First Call Horns, and reapply the 1.1.8.3 patch. (Note that you'll have to reauthorize FCH, but the same response code will work, if you kept that e-mail...if not you can still retrieve the old response code from the NI reg system online.)

Make sure you have the Pro Apps Support package installed. Apple Software Update does NOT automatically install this:

    http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/proapplicationsupport30macosx104.html

Repair permissions (use /Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility to do this), then restart the computer.

And hopefully that'll work!! It's working for me here.

For those of you on Logic 7.0.1, consider upgrading to 7.1 (even though it's $19.95). I got a few crashes on 7.0.1 but they all went away with 7.1.

Don't warry about it now, version 1.1.8.3 update fixes the problem I had.
It works fine with Mac OS X 10.4.2 and Logic pro 7.1.

I am considering buying FCH and can't be bothered to read the whole thread so this question is very much on everyone's lips in my manor

Im on 10.3.9 using pro-tools 002. It' s totally unstable. Sound selections won't lock. Bringing up a saved session, first call wont play until sound selections are reselected. It's crazy.
Are there any Pro-tool users out there?
