Because they fixed the sample decks keylock etc etc. So I guess for them to do that the software needed more resources to handle the fixes that NI made.

I know it's not really good in that sense. But that's what software is like. You add things to fix bugs and in turn it becomes a hog on resources.

And I bet you when they try and fix the issues that others are having now, they will end up with another bug for some other users.

Perfect example. For some users, 2.0.3 runs well but it still had this issues:

    MIDI Clock send/receive stability improved
Cueing issues with CD Timecode fixed
Track start position offset with timecode media fixed
CUP instant mode with "Quant" enabled fixed
CUP instant mode for decks B/C/D fixed
    Built-in soundcard fall-back fixed
MIDI controls "Tempo Sync", "Load Loop Play", "Load From List" and "Track End
    Warning" fixed
Drag & Drop from preview player to deck fixed
TAP when working with beatgrids fixed
Reset deck controls for pitch fader fixed
Issues when loading a missing sample to a sample slot fixed
Issues with ASIO control panel for some 3rd party devices fixed
Crash when removing Traktor Kontrol X1 fixed

And when NI fixed those issues with 2.1.2 some users still had other issues. And from what I have read around here, NI did email one of the members here and stated that 2.1.2 uses more resources http://www.native-instruments.com/forum/showpost.php?p=982441&postcount=256

Like I said when NI fixes an issue another one will pop up.

    Fortunately I don't have any.

I still have two important problems about the BPM and Beat Grid that many times are incorrect.
As I posted in another tread sometimes the BPM is 127.990 or 128.004 instead of 128 this happens just sometimes but the beat grid issue (not exactly at the first beat) happens almost every time so I have to fix it manually.

thats not a bug really its just traktor trying to be as accurate as possible with its BPM and you won't notice such small issues when playing.
If it makes you feel better just nudge them up to a round number before you lock the track... the only issue i've found is sometimes the whole grid needs pulling back a couple of clicks to get it on the first beat..!

cue issues with cd timecodes is not fixed, a developer of NI confirmed that it still needs fixing.

also wasn't 2.0.1 heavier on cpu for timecodes but fixed in the next updates ?
Therefore an update for 2.1.2 is also needed.

Like I said there are still issues with 2.1.2 for others (not for me). When NI fixes them a new issue will come along.

That's the nature of software developement. Once NI fixed all the issues of TP/TSP 1.2.7 they decided to bring out TP/TSP2.

And it wasn't as smooth as they'd hope but they are getting there. Basically new software are not always 100% smooth (or any software for that matter). There will always be some issue.

Advancement or new innovation will always be there because us humans always try to make things better. And in any other industry advancement is the key to survival.

If any given industry just stuck with the product that they perfected and not worry about developing newer technology they would get left behind and eventually kill off their product. Because less people will buy it.

For example look at Serato. They've been around a lot longer and they have a very stable software and it's size only under 100MB.

And then other companies started to bring out DVS as well. NI came along and a lot of people jumped ship because of the extras that Traktor have and Serato didn't have.

The problem with TP/TSP2 is it has too many blings. If they kept it simple like the more stable 1.2.7 they wouldn't have much problems as other users are having now with TP/TSP2.

    PS:

I actually found an issue with the MK2 timecoded CDs I got in december. I tried it last night and the CDs are doing weird stuff. When scratching, it would say "skipping" and at times it would show on the sratch panel you can see a stuttering effect (sound is fine).

Put the old timecode CDs on and I have no problems.

point taken but at some point traktor will have to be at par and function as it is supposed to function. Also i must state that most fixes in 2.1.2 are fixes from 2.1.1 and not from 2.0.3.

Very true. I reckon the software still has a lot of maturing to do before it can be as good as 1.2.7

please remember though.....NI only moved to 2.1x series to stop paying royalties to Final Scratch for MK1 timecode. Using their own code has resulted in much heavier CPU usage. Dont fool yourself into thinking that its for all the new features. Its not.... its a money saving exercise from NI which will take a fair few releases to get back to the low cpu usage of 2.03....

We're not talking about new features of 2.1.2. We're talking about TP2/TSP2 in general. What I'm saying is TP2/TSP2 will not be smooth for other users. Other users will have CPU spikes etc etc. There are a lot of us out there that don't have CPU spikes or issues with TP2/TSP2.

My CPU load has always been around 30% right from 2.0.1 up to 2.1.2. Like I have said before TP2/TSP2 needs to mature a bit more in order for it be more stable like TP/TSP 1.2.7

Who cares about MK1 or MK2 timecodes? I couldn't care less about who pays who or NI deiciding to make their own code. Both timecodes work for me (except the MK2 timecoded CDs were acting weird but doesn't affect the sound). I'm quite satsified with 2.1.2.

I do hope that they can fix the probelms that other users are experiencing. For me I'm all good. Don't have any problems with TP2/TSP2.

Did a gig last night for about 5 hrs.
    my 2.1.2 did well
with that said, this was my base run
no special tricks or showing off
    loading, playing, mixing.
    worked like a champ.
next i will try to use the sample decks and my kontrol X1, i only used the mixdeck by itself.

the only thing i noticed was the wave form of the track that was playing jumps a bit (visually) not the audio, when i load a track to the stopped deck. gets annoying but didnt hurt.

and does anyone else notice that traktor will analyze some tracks when loaded, even if the entire collection has been done?

Yes I have noticed that... And it appears to be totally random... May have something to do with the same bug that cuases some of my controller mappings to stop working. Seems like maybe somehow some of the config files are getting corrupted or something. However I have yet to loose cue points or anything really important (regarding the songs). So even though the song gets analyzed again the cues and BPM's are still intact. I DO always lock my BPM/beat grids though so can't say if this would hold true if I were to not lock them.

Have to say that I personally am loving 2.1.2- A few minor issues (horrible wave display still blurry and hard on the eyes) - Occasional lost settings - other minor issues that don't effect audio performance at all (twitchy wave display for one) - but all in all working really good. As far as the CPU... If I disable sampler deck keylock I run pretty much same cpu as before (perhaps a tiny but higher) but I don't use timecode vinyl either...

All in all syncing with Abelton Live seems a bit more solid but still a little on the irregular side (generally only a problem with some plugins that set parameters based on BPM- i.e. delay times set off MIDI/bpm)

Also been using multi core support enabled for the last few days and it seems to be doing ok as well... While it does seem to use up a bit more resources than without, since it distributes across the cores fairly well it runs faster and smoother...
