Is the new Komplete Kontrol S61 MK2 keyboard fully compatible with FL Studio 12? Which controls are supported? I am aware of the information in the Tutorials section. Is setup of the MK2 different from the first generation Komplete Kontrol devices? Thanks!

If NI denies including support for FL Studio I think AKAI Advance is good alternative. However I'd like to stick up with Kontrol since I've already got Komplete Ultimate...

There is no deep integration with FLS at this point, but you can still use it as a regular MIDI controller of course.

OK, thanks for the answer but what does it mean "at this point"? Is there any plan for deep integration in the future or there's not? It's a great piece of hardware but 699 eur for regular MIDI controller is a bit overkill.

NI are shooting themselves in the foot if not. Plenty of people in the comments on YouTube asking the same questions.

I see the DAW integration as "icing on the cake" - the Komplete Kontrol interface to ones plugin settings (NKS and non-NKS) is a profound change in ready access to one's sounds without having to go through the process of MIDI-Learning all the time. The new browser with the audio "snippets" lets one browse through the massive number of NKS presets one has in their possession very efficiently and adds a huge new fun-factor.

I would not buy this unit if it were only for the DAW integration - that is a nice thing, but not as essential to me as everything else. (Plus, I use Digital Performer and Samplitude, so I have little intention on waiting for those to be supported anyway!) ;)

How it was explained to me was, without deep DAW integration, none of these features will work. You're basically paying a premium price for a MIDI controller husk. Or am I mistaken?

No, that is a huge misrepresentation. I have several very robust MIDI controllers, 25 thru 88 key, but none of them hold a candle to my S-series units.

Just don't buy it until the integration is implemented. Simple as that. I use Live and everything integrates perfectly and I'd love to upgrade but there are features in KK that should be there by now and they are not so I'm not laying down money until I see them.

    Hi,
What you are saying here, is KONTROL Browsing Software functionality which comes with KOMPLETE bundle and this can be used on any DAW or Standalone on PC without the KONTROL hardware keyboard.
Very similar functionality achieved with AKAI VIP 3.0 Software and it will work much better with other than KONTROL keyboards.

So it's good to know will KONTROL support DAW I work with, otherwise there are similar/better alternatives with advanced DAW support for half of the price.

Unfortunately I have no possibility to test couple of different keyboards from different vendors and choose the one which workflow fits best for me.

Yes, you can still use NI's hardware along with Komplete Kontrol plugin to do what it was supposed to do. "Deep integration" refers to showing track levels on keyboard's displays, selecting tracks and adjusting volume/pan, triggering scenes (Ableton Live, for example) etc. etc.

Thanks! This however still doesn't answer the question will Kontrol MK2 plan to support the more DAWs deep integration in the future, including FL Studio, Yes or NO?

And there's a second question if the answer above is NO. Can this deep integration be done by a DAW developer or 3rd party plugin? If yes, is there any documentation of the protocol that would allow me to implement such plugin without any 'engineering reasearch'?

To the first question only NI can answer, and I'm not sure they'll divulge that info officially. As for the other queestion, there's no documentation of the protocol for 3rd parties at all, so...

I currently have the MK2 and as of right now it is pretty much a generic midi controller in the most bare bones way possible inside of FL studio.i know they haven't said anything about transport controls or anything like that but even when i open KK software as a VST inside of FL you cant even control that.

Thanks for the warning! ... Are you sure nothing works? Have you tried on omni channel? If it doesn't work it's really bad news

He didn't say nothing works - he said it works as a regular MIDI controller.
