Flight Case for Z1 + F1 + X1 Mk2 Anyone?

I recently purchased the Z1 as a replacement for my previous controller and have married it up with the X1Mk2 and F1. I'm looking for a flight case solution that will allow me to leave everything plugged in and ready to roll, preferably a Glide style flight case.

There doesn't seem to be anything for this combo, which seems kinda strange considering it's such a great mobile rig...

Does anyone know of a generic flight case with the right interior dimensions? Has anyone already had a case made for this?

I did try to get a quote but the first company I asked wanted over $700, which is ridiculous.

Any help would be appreciated... And N.I. if you're reading, are you going to come out with anything in the near future?

    Hi there,

I was thinking the same thing and was wondering if you've found anything that suits?

Hi,... Unfortunately, there is still no specific case to my knowledge, so I ended up getting a second hand NI S4 flight case. Installed two strips of industrial Velcro into the case, then velcro on the base of the Zi,X1Mk2 and F1 and installed them... If you're not constantly taking them in and out it should hold brilliantly... You may need to swap Velcro out once in a while if you are moving them in and out of the case. Nice thing is I can also velcro all the other stuff in there like power supply units for the USB hub and Z1 for transport... A USB hub tucks nicely underneath, velcroed onto the underside of the computer stand. In my case, I also bought 3 Decksavers to protect the equipment so I can stuff a towel and all the wiring on top to hold the equipment in place for transport... Here's the most awesome no bullshit demo of why a decksaver is worth the money!

Hey thanks for that. I had an idea similar to yours but it didn't include the Velcro. That video is awesome by the way!

Could you post a photo of your setup so I can see how much space either side of each unit?

Also, why is everyone saying I need a powered USB hub when the one that I'm using hasn't shown any problems so far?

    Thanks again.

setup.JPG Here's a recent pic... I only D.J. non-profit and charity events nowadays but the set up is good for just about any type of gig IMHO. Note, I use my iPod as a backup in case anything crashes... As far as the Powered USB hub goes... I've found that on mine, the X1Mk2 and F1 when running together need a powered hub plugged into the computer's USB port be smooth and seamless with the powered Z1 plugged into my second USB port. Some people have had different experiences and I know when I tried a non-powered Belkin, it crashed a few times on me and just stopped working. Got this powered one and it's been fine as long as I don't plug the Z1 in to the hub. I put velcro on the power supply units for the hub and Z1 and stick them down for storage right where the sunglasses are in the picture. Hope this helps

Looks pretty sweet man. Thanks for taking the time to upload this for me. I'll keep an eye out for a secondhand case and if not, their on sale at my local dj store. I'll search around for a powered USB hub too.

    Thanks a bunch. Peace.

I've custom build a case with foam from old Macbook Pro boxes  and a small poker set case I owned. Zero bucks and works perfectly fine for carrying around the Z1. Would the case have been a LITTLE bit thicker, I could even fit my iPad mini into it - but as I carry a backpack anyway, no big deal.

There are plenty more or less cheap cases around that would be fine for carrying stuff around, with customizable foam kits. Most of them are a lot bigger than the Z1 though.

Hey Can you share a picture of you DIY case? Im in the same boat as you guys but I use my X1 for club/Turntables situations too So Velcro is not my first choice. Any other controller cases that would fit? I'm Also considering a second f1.. so size could be a decision barker

Nice Rig Man! I'm looking in the same direction as well. I think I've narrowed down my choices to the Kontrol S4 case. Just need to check if it will fit 2 f1's 1 x1 and a Z1 and also usb hub and RCA Passive Volume ( I'm solving the monitor cue problem with wires and Volume knobs jejeje )
