    Hello folks,

I thought that the dreadful bug that caused a Traktor freeze upon closing the program and making you lose all of the current session's work (tagging, creating playlists, etc.) was long gone. Sadly, this horrible issue started showing up again intermittently since a couple of weeks ago. It happens roughly about 20 - 30% of the time for me now. It has gotten to the point where I have to cross my fingers every time I quit Traktor. This, of course, is unacceptable. I will try the apparent solution that was posted way back when, but am a bit skeptic as the problem should have apparently been resolved by now via de current updates. I'd very much appreciate it if someone could share their experiences with this problem and any insights as to how to get rid of it for good. Cheers!

Had this just happen to me after about three hours of work. I left Traktor some eight years ago and just recently bought a current MBP to give it another go. The MacBook Pro is setup freshly with absolutely no other software installed except Traktor and the NI audio drivers. I'm using a Z1 for playing out, however while editing I used the MBPs internal audio with headphones. I was shocked that after all these years there is no progress in Traktor's Autogrid - not so much that it doesn't recognize beats and tempos from 'live' tracks, but when I set the grid cue manually and then dial in the correct tempo, the grid cue is way off from where I put it. WTF NI???
However, after a couple of editing sessions during the last couple of days that went without problems, tonight I decided to call it a day and quit Traktor, which led to the 'Flushing Background Tasks' freeze (got the warning 'deck is playing', which actually wasn't the case, and after confirming my wish to quit got the freeze). Of course I had to force-quit and then restarted Traktor to see what was left of my work - all gone... it seemed. Loading one of the tracks in question showed no hot cues, no tempo information, no nothing. However, after a computer-restart and reopening Traktor, I loaded one of the 'lost' tracks into Deck A and presto, hot cues, tempo, rating and even comments were back. Only thing that wasn't restored were the Favorites. Initially, all the corresponding tracks (the lost work) were greyed out and had a tempo of 0.000 and no ratings - which led to my assumption the work was lost. But as I said, after a reboot and loading one of those tracks it all came back. Same goes for all the other tracks of the session. It was / is my understanding, that Traktor's infos are stored in the individual files, so it was hard to believe that those infos would only be written to the files on quitting the program. Don't know if this is of any help for you, and maybe I was just lucky? Will have to look up the corresponding thread. It appears the current version of Traktor is from October last year, so 8 months without progress. Quite sad.

This issue has been around for years and many have reported it to Support. many other thread of reports of this issue since 2.8 maybe even before that. When i reported that told me to install which did not fix the issue.

Maybe the NI moderators and NI peeps here can comment on this long standing problem.

Over the past years, this issue has occurred on 3 different devices in different setups and it has been outraging me every single time!
I agree on the 20 - 30 % chance. Neither reinstalling, nor updating cleared the problem.
Would love to hear a statement of NI, too.

Probably a track is creating this problem to you.
When you start traktor, take a look down at the status bar if it's flashing red. If it is, see what it is writing.
Usually it's pointing you to the track which is problematic.

I always go to Track collection and the Save collection BEFORE closing down Traktor. Then, even if the dreaded Flushing background error happens, I can close down Traktor without losing all the work I did . Since I have a SSD drive, the flushing backgrounds error hardly ever happens anymore. Maybe it has something to do with a conflict between the speed in which the tracks, cue points etc are saved to disk, while at the same time Traktor shuts down?

Old thread, but maybe helpful for others... I had the flushing backgrounds error too and it seemed i didnt always imported the old collection during updates. At some point I started to refuse importing the old collection after updates, (because of the long copy task) started traktor after the update, went into file management and pointed to the old collection. After restart all seemed to be ok and stable. But from time to time i had the flushing backgrounds error! Since importing the collection every time within the update process, i had the flushing backgrounds error not a single time again. (so dont be lazy like me :) )

Got this error today for the first time on my Mac after using Traktor for years. As you mentioned all changes are lost when I ended Traktor via the task manager.

Flushing Background Tasks is a DJs nemesis on Traktor and has plagued the software since I started using it in 2009. I've had this error countess times, lost days of work plus irreplaceable playlists. It's Traktor's biggest flaw and the developers never fix the issue. Seems they don't really care about the impact is has on our music or creativity. You have to ask why?

Yep just had it happen, I haven't had the issue for at least 3years. I do seem to remember it being a problem after analyzing new files and still having them in the decks, maybe it's just my imagination. But it is exactly what happened this time.

Hello to the Flushing Background Tasks torture back in TP 3.0.1.

It seems that this problem will be with us until the end of time.

I've had this same problem 3 times over the last two weeks.
I believe that this only happens when my iTunes Library is open and "being explored" when you shut down Traktor Scratch Pro.
Anyways, I've lost a 3 hour set recording, and over 20 hours of playlisting.

I have the same problem. Takes forever to “flush background tasks”. And if it was a background task I would be ok with it. But I don’t want to mess up my library so my laptop is completely useless for an undetermined time. This needs a fix.

Aahhh!!! This bug still exists? First time on Traktor Pro 3.01 - damnit.
good work done on my playlists tonight... tons of work on grids and cueponts.
Any way to recover or save the work before force quitting?

Traktor 3 pro tip: always save your collection before closing the application. Else you’re screwed.

After latest update no improvement. Need to shut down Traktor with task manager. This is really irritating.

Short workaround: Map CMD & S = Save Collection, before shutdown.
