Although I've read the FM8 Operational Manual several times, i don't understand.

Could Someone PLEASE clarify what the difference between sound-patches in the FM7 FACTORY folder and sound-patches in the INSTRUMENT folder.

For example... the patch BLADEWALKER shows up in the Instrument Folder but not in the FM7 Folder.

    Thanks,

The patches in the instruments folder are patches made for FM8. The FM7 factory folder is legacy patches from FM7.

As far as I know (read) the original DX-7 patches were included in the FM7 presets. Do I understand correctly that these are in the Factory directory as well?

I just checked.. I have both FM7 and FM8, and it seems that the DX7 factory sounds and the DX200 selected sounds are indeed not included in the FM8 sounds. But you should be able to find a syx out there with the factory sounds and then import them yourself.

    Cheers.

There is a patch that I'm looking for that came with Original brown-faced DX-7 (the ugly brown colored DX-7). It was patch was called "BELLSWELL" It was a pure tubular bell sound that slowly faded (swelled) into a growlish type sound.

If anyone owns an original brown-faced DX-7 (1985 ish) with that patch and/or has access to that patch, could you PLEASE email a sys-ex version of that.

    Thanks.
