FM8 64 bit is sounding really bad, unlike 32 bit

And they're not dragging their feet about it, I assure you. NI's product codebase is anything but small, so it takes tome to update it all, but they are indeed working on it. It looks like it will be a global sweep update across the whole Komplete range, so everything will go AAX2 and AU 64-bit all at once. Just sit tight.

Tired of sitting tight and tired of hearing the same tired old excuses from a beta tester. NI knew PT 11 was coming a long time ago. They could have done a phased rollout of aax64 bit but nooooooooo. We get to wait and wait and wait ad nauseam. The only good thing if that can even be said is that NI's delay has boosted the sales of Vienna Pro 5; I hate having to use a work-around. I shudder to think what NI is going to charge for all this. So far there hasn't been any word of even THAT - is it a free update or a pay-for. How about it NI - can you at least give us that much?

So far all minor point updates have been free as far as NI is concerned. This is going to be such a case, as well.

You wouldn't have to wait if you were using a different DAW ;)

FL Studio 11 can load 32 and 64 bit VSTs.
I wonder why other (more expensive) DAWs can't. ;)

Why should I switch daws? PT elsewise has been going great - PT 11.0.2 is killer. No love for Logic.

Though this is a major bug, the only way it'll be squashed (if ever it is) will be via a paid update. My guess is that FM8 no longer fits in with what NI want to do and, like so many of their best instruments, it will be ditched.

I don't give a stuff about AAX or AU. I'm after VST.

Since I can't go back an edit my previous post let me ask this: You mentioned minor point updates were free and I know that but what if NI decides to roll the fixes/updates into a new version like fxpansion did for BFD 3 and rightly charges for it? How do we know NI won't do that for FM and Kontakt considering the rumors about Kontakt 6?

    Dear Mr Dragon.

I'll be more than happy to be proved wrong on my conjectures :D but I CAN'T be wrong about the ditching of great instruments because it's happened. ;)

Trust the beta tester, for once.

Kontakt 6 hasn't emerged even as alpha yet.

Couldn't agree more. Still po'd that Pro53 and B4/B4II got dropped. Not happy at all with Vintage Organs in Kontakt 5; doesn't play at all like a real B3 or any other B3 emulation out there or even B4/B4II. Any others when you change a drawbar or any other setting while playing the sound immediately changes - not so on the sample based VO. The only ones that do change immediately are volume and Leslie speed in VO. You have to re-key what you're playing so smooth sound changes don't happen.

Probably so but remember that Battery didn't even get rudimentary aax 32 bit until Battery 4 while everything else in the current NI lineup had it. So who's to say it won't happen again? I've learned NOT to trust beta testers; have experienced too many that have put out red herrings.

Well, if you just went to Settings tab and disabled "Mute inactive drawbars", you would get all the drawbars running constantly, and you wouldn't have to re-key then. RTFM :)

Read what manual? I can find nothing in the Kontakt manual about Vintage Organs and there's no manual for VO on my iMac.

Download VO manual from VO product page, then. Right at the bottom:

    http://www.native-instruments.com/f...ads/manuals/Vintage_Organs_Manual_English.zip

I find it weird that you don't have Documentation folder within the Vintage Organs library folder. It should be there as it installs the manual by default. Alternatively, if you press the "i" (info) button in the bottom right corner of the Vintage Organs folder on the Libraries tab, you will get a list of documentation that's found in the library folder.

By default there's some other documents here, but I removed them (EULA, Readme, etc.) for my own setup.

Found it- thanks. Thing is I never use the browser as I have everything setup to select from the Quick Load menu. And unlike most other things NI related there's no manual for VO that gets installed in the Native Instruments folder that's in the NI Mac Applications folder which is where I was looking. Oh yeah - the only thing that showed in my setup when I clicked the little 'i' was the manual and EULA.

There you go, now you know where manuals are supposed to go when installing Kontakt Player libraries. When I installed K8, each of the libraries coming with K8 got their Documentation folder and manuals were promptly installed in there...

I got VO as part of K8 and then K9 so it wasn't a separate install. What's frustrating is the NI installer doesn't keep all the documentation in one place so you can easily find it. Most of the documentation is in the NI folder that exists in the Applications folder on a Mac. Why have stuff for individual instruments like VO somewheres else? I just drag the NI folder to the Dock so I have quick access to it.
