Seems that everyone values FM8...except for NI.

Computer Music included FM8 in it's top 10 synths (see the NI news page), but FM8 still seems to be neglected by its own company.

Here on the forums, the latest version is still listed as 1.2.0 but there's a newer one - v1.2.1 which "...provides compatibility to Avid's new plug-in format AAX."

Keir...anyone...are you still minding the store?

Users here have written so often with reports of bugs and problems which remain unattended.

    A top 10 synth....dying from neglect. :(

Notice the 'CAREERS' tab on top of this page. I mailed them once with a question about one of their positions, many moons ago,.. no answer. Then I applied for that position, more than a month ago, .. nothing.

So, NI isn't known for their communication skills, which are like cheap dog food.

Yep - I'm still here. Apologies for the recent absence. I was sick and there was no internet access from my hospital bed!

If you PM me with your name and email address I can chase up your application for you and give you an update.

Im betting you wont get an interview with comments like that.if i was you i wouldnt have posted snyde comments but kept them to yourself .im sure a worldwide company as big as native get loads of people thinking there good enough to work for them but im sure if they recieved 1000 letters asking to work for them ,less than 10 would have the talent to actually do the job.

Native have always been an innovator and leaeder were others play catch up there products are that good theyve created new forms of music that is something oher companys have never done.

And no im not ass kissing im just showing the guys a little respect.

Oh and i did get the updates a few days later there was issues with service center.

Keir: don't bother, picked up a job somewhere else. They reacted within days, and the mail conversation, meeting, and contract negotiations were all arranged within one (1) month. Can you imagine? Job involves copywriting for a large music shop, they also sell Komplete 'n stuff.

djwaxxy: "comments like that?" Are you for real? If ever that comment was snyde then it was deserved, rightly so. NI really deserves a credit for FM8, I'm still using it on almost all my projects, and I will always defend its features and quality. However, the quality of their software is about the only thing they deserve a credit for. Communication (most notably the communication between developers and users) is most certainly not one of their qualities. And this is both bad service and a missed opportunity. There's knowledge among users, but if they don't pick it up... What this forum features are mostly user questions aimed at the developers (bugs, feature requests etc.), how often do you see any answers? I still haven't got any answer to the list o' suggestions I've made ages ago. Nada. To point out how annoying it is: I just can't use unison on slow pads, you'll encounter a stupid audible bug once you hit 64 voices. It's just one of many bugs. I don't know who's doing the overall communication management, but he/she should be thrown out.

"And no im not ass kissing im just showing the guys a little respect."

I don't believe I know you, in which case you can stick your respect some place else, thank you.

I'm assuming the FM product line has died and have been looking for alternatives, but I'm struggling to find anything that ticks so many boxes. Apart from the bugs that arrived with the 1.2 update and the KSD dumb down it is a great all rounder and I would upgrade tomorrow for a bug free FM9 at a reasonable price, especially if it's importance as a standalone instrument was properly recognised again.

Actually I'd quite like a fusion of the FM7 colours and FM8 extras but I'd happily trade the four point morph for two if it meant the envelopes became morphable....

Sorry to hear that Keir - hope you're all fixed now!

But how about some positive news from NI about FM8? Are existing bugs and issues ever going to be fixed? As CS_TBL wrote, his long list of suggestions has never been answered, let alone implemented.

As I said in my first post above, it seems that FM8 has been neglected.

Not to mention the bad behavior of Easy page in Reaper and some other hosts too (Cubase 5.5). This is a bug in FM8, not in hosts, as it has been discussed.

Maybe they have all been struck dumb by the awesome new features & stability built into FM9 :)

    Sadly, for FM8.....nothing. :(

No major bug fixes (there are several)
No minor bug fixes (there are lots)
No feature requests implemented (there are many)

NI seem to be letting FM8 die.

Did you guys receive an e-mail with a NI questionnaire, a few days ago? I used the opportunity to make a few points clear, once again.. :)

Yes - I completed the questionnaire and reminded NI about their poor support for FM8 customers.

I hope others will do the same.

Questionnaire was returned with a very low score and not happy comments. Doesn't seem to have motiviated anyone from NI to show face here though. :-(
