I know, it's probably my age and failing eye sight but I miss the clarity of the FM7 color scheme. I do find the FM8 greyness difficult to read in places.

I love useability of the new layout, just miss the old colors for their clarity.

Any chance of a "classic" color scheme option.

That would be really cool...the FM8 color scheme makes me a little sleepy sometimes...

    Definitely needs work

    I agree
The FM8 is a great instrument with many advances, but its horrible to look at. The retro DX7 colour scheme of FM7 worked really well for me and set the instrument apart from others. I find all the soft tones too wishy-washy and undefined. One gets used to unselected/unavailable objects on one's screen being grey - on FM8, this choice of greys is counter-productive.

Please supply the the option of the old colours as a second "skin".

Still learning the new features - FM8 looks very interesting indeed...

    Regards - Colin

I dunno, I quite like the new colour scheme - sort of restful, while getting to grips with FM programming.

As to FM8 (standalone only as it doesn't work in Cubase), I'm very impressed from first impressions. Nice to see the Kompete Sound libraries included as well.

Same with me, I find the FM8 colour not seductive at all, dull and not practical. I like the colour scheme of FM7 a lot more.

Any hope of some alternative in the future ?

My initial impression of the new colour scheme was "low key".

But it has grown on me, and I certainly prefer it to FM7.
I have been using Absynth 4 a bit as well, and definitely prefer FM8 to Ab4, in colour plus some fonts are bigger and more readable.

Shhhh... don't give NI more stuff to think about - they are mopre likely to work on pretty colours and not the bugs and CPU hog that we so desperately need.

for my part the FM7 looks old and meesy - i love the FM8 design and coulour scheme it is fresh new and unique. could it be that you are all getting long in the tooth?

FM7 look would make a huge difference. I would probably even make the upgrade to FM8 then....

I'm with you on this. I find the low contrast greys to be really tough to see--especially if I'm a off-axis on my flatscreens. Maybe it is our aging eyesight. I do basically like the color scheme, I just wish it was higher contrast. (probably just making the darker greys a bit dark would fix it. Small grey type against grey is absurd.)

The low contrast interface thing seems pretty ubiquitous at this point. UI designers seem to have an aversion to the color black.

NI should offer an alternative "old fart" scheme for FM8. ;-)

It can't be very hard to respond to users but NI never seems to do this.
Is it NI policy to ignore customers who have paid for NI software?

Don't expect skins - pray for bugfixes.

It cant be to hard to change the colours of FM8, some hacker should be able to find a way if not NI can do it?

In my mind the FM8 is superior to anything else and it is wonderful!

Buggy softwares is a pain in the ass!

Come on NI! at least reply some time!

I could not have worded it better. I love the new cleaner look of FM8. I think it's much easier to work with. It's one of the best upgrades ever! - Orbit-50
