That's a link to a zip file containing the software and some extra files... read the readme first because there are a few things you need to set up to get it working. Hope it works for you, it works on my desktop and laptop... my email address is in there if you need any help.

You could use it with any MIDI controller with endless rotary knobs actually, I reckon... might need a bit of tweaking.

Let me know what you think,

    cheers, tom

IMHO you're giving up quite a bit for the sake of gaining 4 buttons.

Here is how I am using the encoders.

    Group 1:
Encoders 1-4 are assigned to Deck A effects.
Encoders 5-8 are assigned to Deck B effects.

    Group 2:
Encoders 1-4 are assigned to Deck C effects.
Encoders 5-8 are assigned to Deck D effects.

    Group 3:
Encoders 1-4 are assigned to Master effects.
Encoders 5-8 are assigned to Focus Deck effects.

    Group 4:
    not used (yet)

This makes it very easy to use tweak effects parameters on multiple decks at the same time.

I have also made it so that whenever I adjust any of the encoders the deck that it is assigned to automatically gets focus.

Have you tried changing details panels as well so your details panels show too? If I press a Loop Button I get that decks loop panel showing If I change an effect then the effect pages are shown. Its Sweet!

Just fyi, anyone who tried this and didn't work - I finally figured out why after months of thinking I was an idiot/traktor had broken/something...

I presumed that selecting "Send controls to Broadcast" always sends out OSC on port 7000, of course I was wrong, what this actually does is send out OSC to any hosts listed in the "Detailed Settings" box.

So what you need to do is go Prefs > Sync > Detailed settings, and fill in the Identifier/IP/Port boxes with any Identifier (e.g. Bctraktor), the IP as your local IP (as reported in the settings box) and the port as 7000 (the default in bctraktor.ini) - then click apply, close preferences and it should now work.

This is great for me as it finally gives me a reason to rewrite it in Java, if anyone would still be interested in giving it a go... btw if you want to try this one (PC only, Traktor 2 - though I guess the pitch bend will work in 3 too, supports MIDI feedback, level metering and pitch bending) then post here and I'll find somewhere to upload it again, the old link is dead.

    Cheers,
    Tom

Just in T2 for now, but yeah... it used to work fine then I must have reinstalled Traktor or something and forgout about this setting. It was bugging me for months anyway, lol. I'll get it uploaded again and post the URL here.

    Cheers

    Tom,

I would REALLY like to get my hands on a JAVA version and would be more than happy to test and give my feedback on it if you would like. In fact, I would really probably to chip in some $$ for your time should you so desire...

gmint, dude f**k $$ ;) Purely doing this for the fun of it, it's not that complex (at the minute). I'd say a couple of weeks for a Java version. I could probably get it done in a night but I need to spend the next few nights on university work... will of course let you know as soon as I'm done with a first version :)

    Glad to have you interested!

Just thought I would offer. IMHO this is something worth paying for!

I know that feeling! In any case, I look forward to seeing it!

    Hi there.

Brilliant idea, I just got a BCR2000 a few weeks ago and it kinda makes me feel like a whole person when I wake up in the morning... That is an even better idea to gang up 2 functions to one control, amazing. Maybe it's the little things that I live for.

    Cheers!

Yeah, that is a bad ass feature. I'm thinking of setting up my BCR so that when you switch MIDI pages on the BCR, it will also switch layout views in T3 (probably to go between 2 and 4 deck mode).

    Hello,

Anyone know how to do the 4 extra button trick for a bcf2000? I tried the sysex file for the bcr2000 but it does not work. And also the same for the store/learn/edit/exit buttons. I need buttons!!

    Thanks a lot!!

    Hey Tom,

I didn't grab this before the link expired, would you mind posting it again? It sounds too cool to pass up.. not to mention incredibly useful. Thanks in advance!

I've uploaded it again via yousendit.com - the address is http://s43.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=3F827WOY3HUL824H50YMSK2WLH

Have a look at the readme.txt before running it (you need to make sure Traktor is set up right, and the program is set up to detect the BCR correctly) - fingers crossed that'll be enough to get it working but I've not tried it on any PC's except my own.

Feel free to email me / ask on here if you have any problems...

    Cheers
    Tom

    Awesome, Tom, thanks...

I downloaded it but I have to go to work, so I'll definitely be trying this out later. I'll let you know how it goes.

    Have a good one,

I've uploaded both the software and the four buttons preset to: http://tinyurl.com/f2snk

I've not had the chance I hoped for to work on it in the past couple of weeks, but hopefully soon I'll be able to. It won't work for Traktor 3 at the minute because it doesn't send out the required OSC messages (which tell my program the controller values, the output volume, etc) - hopefully either this'll be fixed soon, or even better NI just implement MIDI feedback :)

You could get the pitch bend functionality to work for it though, I'll help you out if you'd like that. Also any other input remapping functions I add (e.g. better pitch control options) will work with T3 - it can still alter the input, just it gets no feedback.

Let me know how you get on and feel free to ask for any help.

    Cheers
    Tom
