For any Kontakt fans who haven't found it yet, there is a Kontakt web site with lots of free downloads and lots of links to more:

thanks ddas. you have some amazingly detailed kits up there.

i'm not much for "realistic" samples, but i really enjoyed the guild f47 harmonics. boulder sounds' granular bottles is absolutely amazing as well.

even if you don't use the samples, looking at them is a great way to learn more about kontakt. the included sample library doesn't really do the program justice as far as exploiting all the sound mangling possibilities.

    thanks,
    scared.

I agree, the Bolder Sounds stuff is incredible. I know Dennis (the chief sound designer at Bolder) is a Kontakt fan and is hoping to translate some of his libraries into Kontakt format in the future.

If you're into things like the Granular Bottles, you should definitely check out his Bolder Eclectic disc. I don't own it, but I've heard it's amazing! He is a great sound designer. I own the Pianos disc which is very good.

I'm thinking about writing a tutorial on how to explore Kontakt's sound mangling possibilities. I have to check first and see what tutorials NI has already written and what would be helpful. There is an amazing world of sonic possibilities out there. I'm working on a Kontakt sample disc myself.

    It's for MAC only. Worthless...

    Good for Mac AND PC

No, it's good for both Mac and PC users.

StuffIt was used on all the samples because it seems to compress stuff the smallest. Though StuffIt began as a Mac program, you can download the freeware StuffIt Expander for the PC too, and enjoy the full library.

That's because the site hasn't been live for a while. Notice that this thread is over five years old! David said it wasn't worth keeping up for various reasons. It's too bad really. I remember it being a great site.

    Thanks David...
I had and answer from NI about the crash problem I had. Do you remember you gave me a solution: getting rid of Kconvert.bundle.
There is now an other solution gaved bt Philipp Kopp from NI:

delete the following file from MacHD/User/Library/Preferences:
    "Kontakt2.plist"
    Restart the application afterwards.

    I tried : it works.....

I hope it can be useful for a lot of people
