Just checking the teaser now, since I'm short on time.. but sounds good so far. Definitely my kinda cuppa.
I don't agree it runs all over the place stylistically, it's a broad sound but pretty coherent with how you treat melody and rhythm (but then maybe my taste isn't? Meh.. who cares). 20 tracks sounds like a long listen though, might be better to break it up in smaller batches. I always think EP (30-40 minutes tops) works well for this kind of music.

I'm downloading them all so I can have a good listen when I'm on the road.. I'll get back with some more detailed takes.
Do you make those artworks as well? Looks very nice.

thanks for checking it out :)
maybe i should have said runs all over different genres rather than stylistically :p i can see what you're saying.
and yeah, i went a little over the top on this one with the 20 tracks. i was actually planning more initially but decided on 20 as I got into it. i was just super psyched with the maschine (got a mikro 3 months ago and then about half way through the album picked up a jam as well.) it was a very fluid experience to be able to play most everything live (versus the ages of mostly sequencing previous to this.) I kinda went a bit nuts. Future releases will probably be in the 5 track range. :p
hope you enjoy the full release! thanks for the feedback. and yes, the cover art is mine.

tHE First thing I here is really well done. Sounds great, hoping for some wicked leads. Third track, your mixing is excellent. Fourth track is okay, but don't like the weird sounding vocals. Fifth track sounds dreamy, hope for some nice melody. The mix sounds great, but is there any lead instrumentation? All the rhythms sound boss, would love to add some leads over the top. nice job. Did I here a vocoder or is that a golden throat?

Some great chill stuff, you are a master on the maschine. Going to have to put up some of the stuff I've been working on the past month just to show that Maschine is a great recording platform, however you still need to learn workaround for certain things like lead in notes for melodies and also how to place samples that run through scenes, and also how to handle time signature changes.

Haha, that almost exactly my experience. I got mine 8 months ago and ditched my entire old workflow. Have been knocking tracks out ever since, and enjoying the crap out of it. I only have an MK1 and expanded it with Komplete.
Do you only use the stock effects? I found I've had to add a few plug-ins to get the most out of Maschine as a production tool. I hate the EQ for instance.

thanks for the feedback! and i didn't use any vocoder in the album but i did put the grallion plugin on some of the vocal chops to smooth them out. that might be what you're hearing.

and yeah, i agree. i'm really quite happy with maschine as a standalone daw. i see a lot of people complaining about what the software can't do on this forum rather than all the things it's quite capable of. sure, there is definitely some workflow improvements I'd love to see. (for instance, the addition of a song layer would be amazing.) but after playing around for a while I just learned to adjust my workflow to work with how maschine handles things. the tip someone gave me here on the forum when I asked about recording larger sections into multi-scene sections of the track really came in handy. (making blank patterns in each scene and then looping the parts of the scene with the added patterns and then recording while playing back.) sure, it's a bit of a pain, but really with how quick everything else is (pretty much instant brain to track creation.) it's a small inconvenience I can live with for the time being. it's quickly become one of my favorite environments for track creation. quite refreshing and straight forward.

I'm saving up for komplete! definitely my next major musical purchase :)
I'm actually really digging the stock effects. I've only added a small selection of third party stuff to it. i've got the complete collection from air which is pretty much the only thing i've added past the stock/komplete select stuff. on my laptop which i generally use for music i've got tons of vst/vsti mostly freeware but a lot of junk. i've been using maschine on the desktop and decided against installing tons of plugs. found it really nice to work with a small quality set of tools vs a glut of junk to sift through to find gems.

So true, I dumped all my freebies and one-trick pony VST's as well. I realised that all the classics I truly love are made with very limited kit (909 & 303, vinyl and an MPC) and those limitations shape the music. 'Modern producing' sounds more like being up ****'s creek with so many paddles on board the boat runs aground.

Your artstyle is really cool, btw. Do you do commissions?

    i hear ya! :)

and, no, i haven't done commissions but that's only cause no ones ever asked. so yeah, i would be down with that.

;You are truly adding much to the worth of maschine. Great work, you should get a few soloist to add some exciting leads and what have you IMHO but it's still nice to listen to, and someone like me automatically hears the lead melodies and such, they're just usually me or the artist I'm digging at the time!!!! I'd be willing to contribute some solo's if you ever feel the need to add such things to the mix. You're one of my favorites in this forum.

thanks for the kind words man. and yeah, i'm certainly not adverse to collabs. sometimes i'll feel a lead and sometimes i just like to let the music do it's thing. guess i wasn't really feeling particularly lead-y with this release :p although i would say 'kluster' definitely has a lead thing going on. maybe next release i'll focus on some wild leads :)

You actually deserve it. Hope you get a nice break without all the usual drama that goes with fame and popularity.

I'm forwarding on some of your stuff to people I've worked with in the past for a listen. Maybe you'll get selected for a commercial or even movie, good luck. Have you talked to Native Instruments about an artist endorsement?
I think they would give you one. Also a few other soft synth companies. Do you ever go to any of the big NAMM shows? Great place to find extra income and free product if they like your stuff and if you have a few people that like your craft. Just saying. On a side note, it may be much for a single release, I would cut down on the amount of variation you are showing and give each track that is left a little more diversity. I think that would be a real game changer for you.

hehe, well, i've been making electronic music for over 25 years now and actively releasing it for about 20. Considering i've always managed to keep it underground I don't think I have any worries about that :p

yeah, i don't get out much. this is just something fun to do in my bedroom studio to pass the years away. i'm sure native instruments gets tons of requests for that type of thing so i'm certainly not gonna bother them :p either way, thanks for passing it around :) the more the merrier!

yeah, next release will be more focused. like i said, this album was the OMG I LOVE MASCHINE AND AM CRAPPING OUT 2 TRACKS A DAY BECAUSE I'M HAVING SO MUCH FUN album. Where as the next should be a more moderate amount of tracks with more focus on complexity.

Is that acoustic guitar a NI guitar plug or did you play that part on the instrument? Either way very nice dreamy effect. I would of named it Wondering Mind. Great .

Who makes that and where can I get it? Pardon my ignorance but I never heard of that one.

i got lucky and picked up air complete for $70 (which included this and about 10 others). air's other synth (hybrid 3) was going for $1 around black friday and i fell in love with it. so when i saw the complete package for such a steal i scooped it up. certainly, no regrets on my part :)

I believe your referring to this,

It's Monark synth (preset is Silver A) although i may have tweaked it a bit. Silver, I think, is native instruments little nod to the 303 (silver box?) If you search silver in the browser you will find a few 303 type sounds. It's that plus automation on the cutoff and resonance then run through the beat delay native plug.
