In 1.1.2 I had various effects set to certain knobs. I would twist the knob, it would select the effect, turn it on, and control the parameters I set as soon as the knob was moved from the "off" position. This was accomplished by setting the control mode to hold. This allowed for the effect to stay on the entire time the knob was turned up, but then it instantly turned off once it was turned down.

But, now in the 1.2 version, the "effect on" isn't activated until the knob is halfway up. It looks like NI changed the way Traktor receives certain midi messages. I would really like for this to be set to the way it was because it allows me to have knobs dedicated to certain effects that I like. Without this, I have to map the effect on to another button, which I will do if I have to, but it would be so much easier to have it the way Traktor 1.1.2 was.

Does anyone else use effects in this way?

It also acts the same way if you map effect amount/effect on in chained mode to the same knob.

Yes and this is a problem a number of people have filed bug reports about please everyone file your bug reports about this issue and add your weight to this issue so that we make the dev team aware that this behavior is NOT at all desired or expected the behavior present in 1.1.2 is both correct and expected.

This breaks a lot of peoples existing maps with no easy to correct the condition. The net result is a decent chunk of functionality is lost by decent chunck of the MIDI programming fraternity.

Yeh, if you have run into this issue please report the bug. I would really hate to see this functionality taken away. It is a large part of my workflow in terms of manipulating songs.

    here is the workaround:

select direct mode instead of hold and set to 0.

move the assigned knob/fader without 'learn'

    change direct back to 1

    change back to hold.

now it will behave as it once did. I guess the underlying function of the direct mode affects the other modes.

Very nice. Just tested it out on all my preset effects and it works. Good to know this can still be done. Hopefully it will be a bit smoother in the final release, but if not at least there is this workaround.

Edit: I noticed that this workaround works. But when I restart Traktor, I have to go through the same setup again with fx unit 3. Fx unit 4 stays consistent though. I reported this as a bug, but has anyone else had a similar experience. I haven't tested it with having them mapped to fx unit 1 and 2. I will mess with that later today and see if that has the same problem.

    Awesome. It worked for me.

I restart Traktor and nothing has changed, I didn't have to redo the set up. I'm using it in FX unit 3 and FX Unit 4.

    Thanks Buggles

Hmm, interesting. Well, I reported it as a bug. So hopefully it will be consistent for the final release. I may play around with it some more to see if I can get it working.

Are you saving the preset on your files?

I forgot to mention, the first time I restarted Traktor I didn't save it on my files, therefore I had to redo the mapping.

By saving the preset, do you mean saving it as a TSI? If so, I tried saving it and reloading my TSI file. Are you on a PC or a Mac? I'm running it on a Mac.

Yes as TSI. I am also running on a MAC (MacBook Pro 2.6 GHz, 2GB memory)

I just had to save it as TSI once, now it is working perfectly.
