I'm considering using FX Teleport with Kontakt. To those who currently use it, how many instruments and voices are you able to realistically get? What kind of latency are you getting?

Also, if you could describe your setup as well, that would be great.

I tend to use large orchestral libraries and I'm wondering if this is a practical direction to go or not. My sampler computers are each setup with a MIDI and audio interface at the moment. So the idea of using Kontakt as a VST in Cubase is very appealing to me.

Instead of using this FXTeleport, why not just put a soundcard in your other computer that can support digital Out. And then send all that audio to your primary DAW (supposing it has Digi In). This should work, no? Also, there will be no conversion required since everything will still be in the digital domain, no?

    Hi,
I'm using Fx Teleport without problems on a Notebook
    (P4 3.06Ghz).I don't have problems using Kontakt 2 with
Orchestral stuff and I never checked the number of voices
I could use since I din't run out of voices.
I'm using a Firewire connection (400Mb) and Radmin to
edit everything om my working PC so I don't need to have
    the notebook near me.
Cubase SX offers latency compensation and it works
fine. I don't have to save anything on my Notebook, everything is saved on my working PC.
    Hope this helps

    @ keyman_sam:
I'm considering this too. My only reason for researching FXTeleport is the ability to use Kontakt as a VSTi, so I don't have to record each track in realtime for mixdown. But I haven't ruled out using a digital out of the sampling machine. I'm not thrilled with the idea of so much latency.

    @ kurzwave:
I've heard that firewire networks with FXTeleport can cause even higher latency than with Ethernet. Have you found this to be true? What is your latency right now? I'd be very interested to know what the largest number of voices you've ever had going was.

    Thanks guys!
