For your information - The cheapest USB audio card usable with app is Behringer UCA202.

It doesn't need extra power or a hub. Just works with the CCK out of the box.

And I'm yet to get my hands on this: http://theauris.com/ . It has potential to be great - Bluetooth audio with AptX, instead of A2DP - supposed to be much better sounding. And if NI allowed it, it should be usable as proper stereo output. Other apps can do it.

Have you used the Behringer UCA202 with the app mate?

I wonder what impact that little thing will have on battery charge if the iPad is not powered?

whats the benefit of this sound card over the griffin dj cable, stereo master out and stereo cue?

Good question. I don't doubt someone would have enough for a set that lasts a couple of hours. With that, like I said in another post, I plan on picking up a Apogee Duet for iPad as that interface actually charges the iPad.

    So far, I've tested:

    KA6 - works
    UCA202 - works

    Up next:
Apogee One (original version) - works with iPad and a powered hub ordinarily, sucks as it only has one stereo out but if the next app update allows for split-cueing between the headphone out and audio interface, should be good.

I still have to see how the Traktor App is doing on batteries first on it's own. It was doing track analysis on my 2k tracks for the past 5 hours and drained about 45% of my iPad4's power. Pretty OK.

You will have minimum 6 hours playback time. if it's as well done as DJPlayer at least. I have about 8+ hours with DJPlayer on a VCI-400 (which is self powered)

BTW, the VCI400 also works with the Traktor App as Audio (expected).

So is the Z2 - connect it if you have it and it will give you two stereo audio outs.
    ---
Just tested with mine - In fact, not much for now. At least not with Traktor. Pity :(

Most other apps i have allow spreading the 2 channels over two devices (iOS supports it). Traktor doesn't.

So for now, you either have a multi channel card, or no big benefit of attaching external. Even the Bluetooth option is likely not to work yet.

I'm sure they will add the needed support. It's part of iOS, so it's just a metter of integrating it.

so if its traktors the issue, how can the audio 6 give stereo ouputs to both master and cue, or cant it?

so theres no difference at all between that griffin lead and a soundcard at present? Both are currently mono?

lol, the iOS world has long passed beyond the split adapters since iOS 6 is out.

The iOS itself supports multi channel and multi interface. Most apps can output the master on one adapter and the headphones on another.

In DJPlayer or Djay, MixVibes, I can have my headphones on the built-in out, while the master on the UCA202. The UCA is a single stereo in Single stereo out. I can also do that with Bluetooth remote speakers. Not in traktor for now, they want a single adapter with multiple outputs.

I also have VCI-400, which is 4out/6in. with it, the traktor works perfect - master is stereo master, headphones are stereo headphones.
The A6 is the same - it can utilize different channels properly as stereo outs.

But what would be the delay (latency)?

Ah so you mean ideally using the camera kit the uca can do the master output stereo and the headphone output of the ipad can be used for cueing?

    exactly.

It does it on all other apps, and I assumed it will on Traktor too.

Oh well, i'm sure it will come soon.
    ---
I'm yet to try it. The Auris are very new and are not really available yet. It's the second production batch just going out now, I think.

Very reasonable latency though. You know that bluetooth headsets are used for handsfree devices. it's the same concept. My guess is 128-256 add latency.

I'm concerned about the audio quality though. The A2DP is ****. I really hope the AptX protocol over bluetooth 4 will be better.

According to Dubspot, there's an update coming that will allow you to assign each deck to its own output.

That is pure speculation unless Dubspot have spoken to a developer and he has blabbed.
It is a feature request at the moment.

Im hopeful for inclusion in the next version but, it's only at request stage at the moment.

This is a huge bummer for me, I have an iMic laying around that works perfectly with djay as a secondary output. Not with Traktor, as it doesn't support multi-adapter. Hope they fix this one soon.

Sounds like it was someone who had access to an early version so perhaps he/she is aware of the feature request?

    Tascam iU2 not supported :(

Just tried it with the Tascam iU2, which works great with djay and others. No go. Not even for the master output, never mind proper stereo outs. Disappointed.

    whoops: belay previous post!

I retract the previous post  sorry, it *does* work with Tascam iU2 after all, but won't allow use of ipad's headphones for independent preview, like djay does. Exactly the same issue as mentioned above: "in traktor for now, they want a single adapter with multiple outputs."
