Garritan are trumpeting the imminent launch of a GM product, aimed at the same market sector Bandstand aims at, which uses NI's Kontakt as its engine. I'm puzzled as to why NI would failitate a competitve product like this by sharing its technology. Have I got the wrong end of the stick somwhere? Or is this product in fact Bandstand 2?)

I thought Kontakt didn't respond to patch changes--in which case, the Garritan product would have to use something other than Kontakt as its player.

    Am I missing something?

NI makes money licensing their sample engine.

Best Service and Art Vista both have released acoustic piano libraries that use a Kontakt player even though NI has released Akoustik Piano.

Ditto Martin's response. Garritan is free to create any kind of library they want, and put it in the Kontakt Player if they want. It's just licensing money for the Player. :)

    Kontakt & Patch Changes

A Kontakt bank (.nkb) does respond to the 128 program select messages. Critical for someone like myself who plays live with Kontakt.
