Hi guys. Nice to see the thread alive.
I didn't keep on with the mapping. I think I will work on it in july.
Any help would be really appreciated. If you are considering to create your own mapping, please evaluate to start from mine. At this time it has a good implementation , the only thing to do is to develope decks C and D. I planned to put sample decks there.

    HI,
I did an firmware upgrade on the G4V since initially with the supplied Virtual DJ on the CD it did not work.
With the update done and the new Virtual DJ Software I do have LED feedback now. FINE!.

But if I try any of the supplied traktor mappings (official or any of the mappings here), the LED feedback does not work.
Is there a list of the channels / commands for the output that may have changed?
Maybe someone here knows about this issue.

    Cheers

Hi, I searched all over the internet for a G4V mapping that incorporated the remix decks and I didn't find any, so I decided to create one from scratch and here it is. Before anything else I'd like to clarify that this mapping is customized for my own personal needs, but if you don't like some of the features you can easily modify them. I just did this because I thought the original mapping from Gemini was ****.

    Here are the features:

-SAMPLE tab on the controller now controls the first 2 cells of each slot of remix decks C & D
-LOOP ROLL tab controls flux mode loops from 1/8 to 16
-AUTO LOOP tab same as original mapping
-HOT CUE tab same as original mapping except for deleting the hot cues

(I had problems mapping the shift button so I set the scratch/search button to work as shift instead. To delete a hot cue just hold the scratch/search button and press the hot cue you want to delete.)

-DECK SELECT button is now keylock for decks A & B
-The four knobs with buttons that are above the pads now control FX 1 and FX 2 fully
-Load to Deck 3 button now turns on/off FX 3 & Load to Deck 4 button turns on/off FX 4
-The FX 3 parameters are controlled by the deck C EQ knobs and deck C Gain is now Dry/Wet for FX 3
-The FX 4 parameters are controlled by the deck D EQ knobs and deck D Gain is now Dry/Wet for FX 4

(You can still control the volume for remix decks C & D with their own volume fader. The CUE MIX knob adjusts remix decks C & D Gain simultaneously)

-The Deck Assign buttons (4 on each side of the crossfader) now turn on/off the 4 Fx Units on decks A & B
-The Headphone preview buttons below the deck A & B filter knobs now turn the deck's filter on/off
-The Headphone preview button below the deck C filter knob now decreases the Tempo Adjust Range for both decks
-The Headphone preview button below the deck D filter knob now increases the Tempo Adjust Range for both decks

*Since we can set and trigger 8 cues with the HOT CUE tab, I found no need for the CUE and CUP buttons, so this is what I did:

-CUE buttons now toggle on/off Low Kill for decks A & B
-CUP buttons now set either deck A or deck B as Master Tempo
    -Shift
buttons are unused so you can make them do whatever you want

Everything else is mapped to its normal function.

That's it. If you decide to modify this mapping please post it in here so that other people can download the one that fits their needs the most.

    Hi Ricardo,

Excellent work mapping out the Traktor remix sets to the G4V sample pads.
(They work really well for one shot samples)

Overall, your mapping suits my needs except I prefer to be able to select between SCRATCH and SEARCH.
(your current mapping does not allow me to scratch or rewind a song while it is being played)

I am a beginner to Traktor and the Gemini. Can you please advise how to learn about mapping?

    Thanks and Regards,
    Preshen

    Hi Preshen,

I consider myself a beginner as well. If you want to learn how to map you can get the basics down with a couple of youtube videos, however, none of these will get deep enough to start making more "complex" mappings. I would suggest to learn as much as you can about the use of modifiers. Once you get a notion of how to use those, the real fun begins...

I've made a few tweaks to the initial mapping to make it possible to scratch and seek position of a track.
To scratch just press the jog wheel & move it, and to search through a song hold down the scratch/search button & move the jog wheel.

Ideally I would've made this a little bit different, but I don't know why Traktor doesn't let me map the shift buttons to any function.

    The new mapping: https://mega.co.nz/#!PgISCLjD!Mb0LwXHvpIjV56HvRtHdZZjDm3Nt5N-09Bm66s5eAVs

If you have any questions feel free to ask.

    Hi Ricardo,

Thanks a million champ! Is there a reference table or schematic explaining each of the Gemini controls?
The documentation provided by Gemini is somewhat lacking in content and quality. But anyway, your new mapping works really well. One effect I would like to use again is the speeding up and slowing down of tempo by spinning the jog wheels clock/anti-clockwise and touching their outside edges only (i.e. not touching the inner platter)
Also is there way of adjusting the tempo curve? (similar to how you adjust the cross-fader curve)
Once again thank you for taking the time to upload a new config. It is much appreciated.

    Regards,
    Preshen

So everybody, just to post the info:

on Windows 7 64 Bit !WITHOUT! SP1 the Midi Out will not work with the G4V. The Firmware Update will not help you here!!!

    Two solutions:

    1) Install SP1

    2) Take a look at this knowledge base articel. This will fix the USB Driver part of Windows
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2182039/en-us

HINT: The G4V does not use drivers execpt for the ASIO part.
So you are depending on what the OS does.

AND: The support of Gemini sucks big time!!!! Emails are not even recieved to the official Gemini Site. On Facebook the only advice was to use the correct Traktor Version!!!!!
This is !NOT! what I call support.

    Have fun with your G4V!

    Cheers

Thx for the mapping! To map the shift button you have to press the shift and the pad at the same time ( while you learn it ) ... You cant use use the shift button with all the others buttons

I've had cool ideas for GV4 Traktor mapping including loop rolls, instant press FX pads, jogwheel FX, remix decks and more. I agree that official GV4 mapping utilizes 30% of the real mapping potential of this unit.

the only difference between the original one is the browser controlling:

    knob for tree
    knob for list
press back to navigate between both
press knob for browser only ( must be in the list to close it because i hade to set expand colapse for the tree)
press knob expand collapse ( while in the tree )

I think every one should use this way .. I had a new generic midi so its easy for you to see how i did it.

BY THE WAY YOU CAN HAD A LOT OF MODIFIER BY SETTING FOR EXAMPLE :
    MODIFIER 1: VALUE = ( 1 TO 7 ) !!!!

Im working on creating a 3 track decks + 1 remix deck mapping. To play deep house !
Remix deck will aloud you to : store loop in others deck as sample, play it (trigger) pause it delete it slot

if anyone would like to join me let me know

    Hoping someone can help here!!!

How are people finding the performance of the touch sensitive jog switches on the top of the jog wheels?

The touch sensitive top platters on mine are sticking after little or no use, literally after around 5-10 minutes. Th unit is on its way back for either a refund or repair/replacement. I'm hoping its a one off but I have a feeling this unit wasn't designed with the scratch conscious DJ in mind and will not stand up to prolonged scratch use. Coming from the high standard of build quality seen on the original Vestax controllers this is a concern for me.

Ptrn89 - From the video it looks like the working channels are mapped to the function that jumps beats, while the ones that go out of sync are mapped to the simple 'seek' function. You'll need to check the mappings and identify the differences.

Guys I really need some help. I have Traktor (not traktor 2) and have just bought a G4V. I have donwloaded the mapping and applied it but I can't get the controller to work and there are no options for output in hte settings? Also it only gives me the option of "Built in" audio device and no controller? I am using a mid 2010 mac do do this. Does the controller only work with Windows?

The controller should work fine on Mac or Windows. If you haven't already installed the G4V driver, you will need to do that. In Traktor Settings>>Controller Manager, select the G4V mapping you installed, and make sure the Input and Output devices are both set to Gemini G4V.

As for audio, make sure you've installs the G4V Audio driver. After that, the uninformingly named Output 1 and Output 2 should be your main outs, and Output 3 and Output 4 will be your monitor outs.

If you have more questions, I'd be happy to help! Best of luck!

Sweet thanks for the quick reply dude. Where are the drivers? Are they inside the packet with the disk because I was worried about unwrapping it incase I had to sell it unused! Also this is the first major set of decks I have bought myself so I'm not familiar with the concept of drivers and what they are/do so any explaination would be fantastic! Thanks mate

Why buy a fancy controller with the intent on selling it unused? Plus, if you use it, you couldn't really sell it as unused anyway. So yes, open the CD, and the drivers should be on it.

A driver is a background program that lets the computer recognize a USB device, and lets the computer interact with it. Without a driver, the computer has no idea what to do with this thing that got plugged in. The G4V has a MIDI driver that runs the controls and lights, and an audio driver that handles the audio ins and outs. If you run the installer on the disc, it should install both.

MIDI is a data protocol designed for digital musical instruments (MIDI stands for Musical Instrument Digital Interface). Basically, MIDI information can either correspond to notes, or Control Channels (it can do loads of other things too, but that gets complicated). Note information is like "Note On C3, Velocity = 72" or "Note Off G#5, Velocity = 26" (velocity is how hard a note is played, specified on a scale of 0-127). Control Channels are similar to note data, but are used for things like knobs and faders. CC data is like "Control Channel 15, Value = 97". Each knob or fader gets a separate control channel, and a value is sent every time the control is moved. It's also specified on a scale of 0-127.

On the G4V, pads and buttons communicate over note data. Each pad or button is assigned a MIDI note on the keyboard, and communicates on that note. All the knobs send CC messages.

So, I hope my brief explanation of MIDI helps a little. My biggest advice is not to sell your G4V, unless one day you want to upgrade to something even better. Stick with it, and love your fancy, beautiful DJ controller! It'll serve you well! :)

As a side note, I personally find the Gemini mapping for Traktor to be horrible. I'm in the process of making my own, and I'll post it here when it's done.

Brilliant thank you so much for the help I really appreciate it! I managed to install drivers and manually map my old controller while not really having an idea what it all meant so this clears a lot up
