I know this is an old thread, but I was hoping to get some help. I just bought a G4V and I'm attempting to use it with Traktor Pro 2. Problem is, I can't get the master output to play through my speakers. I have the latest drivers installed and I've set the outputs to out 1 and out 2 respectively. The controller is registering a signal. I also have out 3 and out 4 set to the monitor outputs and I am able to get the cue mix in my headphones just fine. Yet nothing I try seems to fix the problem.

I tried to install the hotfix linked above by djwig, however it says it is not applicable to my computer even though I am running Windows 7 64 bit. Any help would be greatly appreciated. :)

Can someone help me out? I'm getting nothing when I open Traktor and plug the controller in. No lights, no feed back. I followed the step by step guide provided by Gemini and still nothing.

    I'm using a Macbook Pro.

    Thanks!

Hello guys, the official mapping works fine except that the pads are not working the way they are supposed to. Does anybody know how to map them correctly? To be more specific, when I press the sampler button, I want to use the remix decks. Sometimes multiple buttons are lit which makes it very unclear what actually is being done with the pads.
    Thanks a lot.

    Gemini support is very bad.
They told me that a new release for the traktor mapping would be released on august/september, but still no news.
It's absurd to produce such a good consolle and give it a so poor support....

You can try this one out and tell me if it works for you, I tried my best!
Right crossfader assign buttons activate effects for decks a and b (top 2 for A, bottom 2 for B)
Deck D is a remix deck and controlled by sampler pads but LED feedback is very glitchy
Deck B has loop roll function, I will do this for A and C as well but it's too much work

Other functions are the same. Again this is incomplete and I probably messed up somewhere with the LEDs but I think I have found a way to use the pads the way they are supposed to be. Let me know what you think.

I just wanted to post a pic in this thread of my first gig with the Gemini G4V which I did last week, at a wedding just outside of Melbourne, Australia:

It worked great, I had bought it the day before and tried to set it up using the very sub-par default Traktor mapping provided by Gemini, but thanks to the users of this thread I found one that I've gotten to work well, at least for the basic means through which I work as a beginner mobile DJ.

One thing that eluded me as a newbie is the headphone setup! I couldn't figure it out, but in case anybody had the same issue, here's how you need it set up, at least it is for me:
There are two stereo audio outputs designed in the G4V hardware, as far as I'm able to see - "Back Left/Right" & "Front Left/Right". The "Back Left/Right" output refers to the booth output, and the "Front Left/Right" refers to the master output. Using it this way, you use the "Booth" volume knob on the controller face as a "master headphone output", which you would have all the way up. Then the headphone monitoring works fine - you use the headphone control knob near the headphone input as a gain control, and then the "Front Left/Right" output is routed to the master, and that's all you need for a simple set up.

As far as I'm able to tell, this is the only way you can configure it, which means that you can't actually have a dedicated booth output for separate speakers, which is a shame. I wonder if the G4V works better with its audio routing with Virtual DJ, as this product was apparently built for it specifically? Either way, I'm able to use it for my mobile DJing gigs, and it's worked great. Thank you very much to all that have posted support here, as well as those who have gone out of the way to develop working mappings, it's been invaluable in getting things going for me and this (otherwise) fine controller!

Can anyone please map G4V to Traktor as close as the VDJ mapping as possible? I am willing to pay for the mapping. I want to be able to use the samples in the remix decks via the pads. Also use the keylock button natively with Traktor Pro 2.

Ideally I want 2 standard decks, 1 remix deck and 1 stem deck. or 2 standard decks and 2 remix decks. need functioning buttons for keylock, slip mode

    Thanks a ton!

Believe me, I'm doing my best! I've worked on it over a year now. Been working for over a year on it. It's super hard because the shift keys, deck select, and pad pages all have to be set up with modifiers. And Traktor only allows for 8 modifiers, which can hold only 8 values each. And each control line can only be dependent on the state of two modifiers. And lots of other reasons.

Remix decks are especially hard, because of the sheer number of controls involved in making it work. My top of the line MacBook was utterly incapable of processing the size of the mapping I was working on, and I only had one deck partially finished.

Sorry, had to vent about it for a second. =D lol

Just exactly how much control are you looking for? I can try to do something for you, but I can't promise.

Above all, I recommend you make your own mapping. Some functions in VirtualDJ are nonexistent in Traktor, or exist in such a different incarnation that making a mapping that works exactly like the VirtualDJ mapping is impossible. As long as you need a mapping, you might as well make your own that is perfectly custom designed for your style. Since your mapping would likely need to be less complicated and ambitious than mine (my mapping aimed to access every possible input control in Traktor ;) ) you should definitely be able to make your own mapping.

I personally own a Novation Launch Control XL I bought for production, and it allowed me to settle into a very nice DJ setup. My G4V covers all central functions (mixer, transports, cues, auto loops, browser, etc.), and an extensive mapping for the Launch Control XL covers all the more complicated functions like FX, grid, advanced loop control, freeze mode, and remix decks. If you have any sort of second controller, be it a keyboard or a knob box or anything, I recommend making a setup like this. The G4V is great at controlling central functions like I described, and the second controller can control everything else with total creative freedom.

If you have any questions, let me know! I've learned a ton about mapping controllers in Traktor over the past year, and I'd be happy to help you out.

    Cheers!

WOW! Over 1 year to map a controller to Traktor Pro 2!!? NI really needs to make things easier to customize with their software. I have a Numark orbit that I will be using for FX and I think your mapping may work for me. my main criteria is triggering samples with pads so that I can finger drum or trigger loops.

I wish I had the time to learn how to map and develop cool maps for the community. However, I work 60 hrs/week and I hardly even get the weekend to myself. With such limited time, I want to be able to practice and play this bad boy that I bought just yesterday.

Again. Thank you for all your hard work. I am sure everyone here values what you are doing! Hopefully you will share your map with us and maybe either me or someone here can assist/further develop on your great work!

Well, actually, I discarded the mapping I was working on (don't worry, I have a saved copy!). I was originally trying to make an ambitious mapping for the G4V only, that controlled everything. Basically, I had to have one full mapping for the mixer section, one for each deck (4 decks) in deck mode, one for each deck in remix mode, and two for each deck to control the lighting. 17 mappings in all, for one controller. It got too crazy, so I saved what I had and erased it, because there were so many mappings it took a full minute and a half for Traktor settings to even open!

If you want that, I'll find it for you. But I only had deck A and the mixer partially done. I don't think you'd want it. ;)

But, here is a *.tsi file with the mappings I built after discarding the monster. It's my current mapping for the G4V and the LCXL.

It'll take some time to explain how the mappings are set up, so I'll do a brief explanation here, and then as soon as I can, get a visual explanation of everything to you.

    G4V:

Mixer: With Shift off, Gain, EQ, Filter, Volume Faders, Crossfader, Headphone Cue buttons, Master Volume, and meters work as expected. Load buttons function as expected, but their LED feedback is for other things. I'll explain that shortly. Like VDJ mapping, Crossfader Assign buttons do nothing without Shift.

Monitor Volume controls headphone volume. Without Shift, Monitor Mix controls headphone mix between Master and Cue outputs.

With shift pressed, EQ, Filter, Master Volume, Monitor Volume, Crossfader, and meters see no change in function. Crossfader Assign buttons now function, though they give assignment feedback regardless of Shift. Monitor Mix adjusts Crossfader Curve, left being smooth and right being cut. With Shift, Cue buttons show which deck provides the Master Tempo, and may allow you to switch Master Tempo, dependent on your settings.

With Shift, Volume faders do a funky thing. They still control the volume, but inspired by the Traktor Kontrol F1, Shift+Volume Faders also adjust Gain to make up for the volume change. Not perfect, but it's cool. ;)

Hold Shift and move a gain knob, and Auto Gain view for that deck will come on. The knob will then control Auto Gain until Shift is released.

Browser is just plain complicated, but fun and easy once you figure it out. Push the encoder to open Browser Only View. Twist the encoder to scroll. Shift+twist the encoder to scroll really fast. Back button moves the scroll to the Favorites section, and pressing it again moves you back to the song list. The Load 2 button lights up when you're scrolling through Favorites. Shift+Back moves you to the File Explorer. The Load 1 button will light. Twist the encoder to scroll. Press the encoder to open a folder, release it to close the folder. To enter a folder, press the encoder, then twist down while holding it. To close the folder, scroll up to the folder and push and release the encoder. Sounds weird. Try it. It makes sense when you do it.

I should point out that since pushing the encoder while the File Explorer is active, the encoder push button is being used, Shift+pushing the encoder will open and close the Browser View. In File Explorer mode, Back will return you to the song list. Shift+Back in Favorites mode will take you to File Explorer. Shift+Back in File Explorer mode will take you to Favorites. Personally, my Back button is a little funky and if I don't press it right, it will register two presses. Watch the lights on Load 1 and 2 to make sure you're where you want to be. Again, sounds crazy. Try it. Makes slightly less sense when you do it, but makes enough sense to use well.

Also, both shift buttons have the same function in the Mixer. However, if you press one, then press the other, releasing either one will turn Shift off, even if the other is still being held. Getting around this was just far too complex, and I've never found it an issue enough to be worth addressing.

Pressing both Shift keys at the same time triggers Send Monitor State. This resends and updates the output and lighting for all controllers. If your lighting is incorrect for some reason, or if a controller disconnects and you need to reconnect it live, this will reset the lighting for you.

So, that's the mixer. See? Complicated. But useful, I think. I'll explain the Deck functions in a second post, hopefully today. Until then:

You are permitted to use the Cup button (functions as Cue), Play/Pause, Sync, Jogs, and Tempo faders, so long as Shift is off for that deck. Pad Page 1 controls Hot Cues in the standard way. Shift+a Cue pad deletes the Hot Cue. Don't delete the first, as this is your grid marker. Pad Page 2 is Auto Loops, of sizes from 1/16 to 32. Shift plus an auto loop triggers Auto Loop Back of the same size. This sets a loop ENDING where you trigger it, rather than BEGINNING there. Very useful for when you miss where you wanted to loop. ;)

Pad Page 3 is Move. Don't touch it till I explain it more.

Pad Page 4 is empty as yet. Drop dubstep, then to this page and drum around like you know what you're doing, and people will throw money at you.

    Cue button is Flux Mode.

Shift+Jogwheel quickly searches through a song. Personally, I love this functionality. I can reach any point I want in a song within one second.

Shift+Play/Pause rewinds the song, like the button to the left of the Stripe.

Keylock toggles Keylock. Hold Shift and it cycles through Tempo Range. Don't know where I got that idea.

As for the four knobs per deck, have fun with Shift off because these control the volume of the four parts of a Remix Deck or Stem File. You're welcome, planet earth!

Shift+Knob 1 adjusts Key Tuning, so long as Keylock is on. Shift+Knob 2 zooms in and out of the Waveform, and Shift+Bank Up/Down resets the zoom.

Deck Select works as expected, with the light on if the lower deck is active.

DO NOT TOUCH ANY CONTROLS I HAVE NOT EXPLAINED YET. I KNOW YOU WANNA TOUCH THEM, BUT MOST OF THEM CAN MAKE DESTRUCTIVE CHANGES AND ARE CAPABLE OF TOTALLY DERAILING A SET. I WILL EXPLAIN THEM ASAP.

And don't touch your Launch Control XL before I explain it. You think this was complicated? The LCXL is even more complex and potentially dangerous. With this comes incredible creative power and versatility, but also great responsibility.

It's also unfinished. Massive, powerful, dangerous, and unfinished. Like the Death Star. And you know how that turned out. Don't blow up a planet. Don't touch anything I haven't explained yet. ;)

But do have fun with what I've got so far. Until shortly, enjoy!

Okay, sorry I had to break it into two. I was writing it on my phone, and it got long enough that my phone was lagging.

For Transports, CUE is Flux Mode. CUP is Cue, because why not? Play/Pause is what it is, Sync is Sync Lock. Shift+Play Pause is Rewind, Shift+Sync is Momentary Sync. The shift button actually disables output from the CUE, CUP, Deck Select, and FX On/Off buttons (go figure), so there are no functions for these.

There's not much more to explain about Pad Page 1 and 2. They're pretty standard. In Auto Loop page, the size it will trigger is twice the size written next to the pad, because I use 32 all the time, and I never need 1/8. Also, I said 1/16 was the smallest size by mistake. 1/4 is the smallest. Also, a lighted pad does not mean a loop is active. It means that the loop size associated with it is the current selected size.

In Hot Cue page (why I'm describing Page 1 after Page 2, we will never know), the pad for each cue will light if the Cue is set, and is either a Cue, Fade In Marker, Fade Out Marker, Load Marker, or Grid Marker. A Loop Marker will not light the pad, to avoid confusion, but this can be easily changed if you please.

As stated before, Pad Page 3 is Move. Pad 1 and 2 BeatJump Back and Forward, respectively. Pad 3 and 4 do the same thing, but in Loop Move mode. 5 and 6 move the Loop In point, and 7 and 8 move Loop Out. Press Shift, and pad 2 and 3 change the Move Size. The other pads select the Move Sizes most frequented by myself. Pad 1 selects 1/2, Pad 5 selects 1, Pad 6 selects 4, Pad 7 selects 32, Pad 8 selects Fine, and Pad 4 Selects Loop. Those pads light accordingly, and as Pad 2 and 3 select up and down, they are always lit when Shift is pressed.

The Scratch button lights up with the currently selected Deck is the provider of the Master Tempo. If the light is off, pressing it will change that Deck to the Master Tempo provider. Shift+Scratch cycles through Deck Flavor. The order goes Standard Deck, Remix Deck, Stem Deck, Live Input. This function is disabled if the Deck is currently playing. Stop the deck before using this function.

The Tempo Fader is unaffected by Shift.

I have reserved the PAR 1 and Par 2 Knobs, SLIP/FX SELECT, and FX ON/OFF for some more global functions, and thus they function regardless of the currently selected Deck. This section on the left hand side controls the Loop Recorder, and on the right hand side it controls the Audio Recorder.

For the Loop Recorder, Shift+PAR 1 selects the Size. Shift+PAR 2 controls Dry/Wet. To use the Loop Recorder, press and hold SLIP/FX SELECT until the loop is fully recorded, at which point the LED will light to show the recorder is loaded. FX ON/OFF Plays or Pauses the recorded loop, and lights when it is playing. Shift+SLIP/FX SELECT deletes the loop. You can also overdub a recorded loop by holding the Record button (SLIP) while the recorder is loaded and playing. This will record just over the part of the loop you held Record for.

As for the Audio Recorder, Shift+PAR 1 controls the Audio Recorder Gain. Shift+PAR 2 is unassigned. SLIP/FX SELECT starts and stops the recording, and lights when the recorder is active. FX ON/OFF splits the file. If your recorded file gets too large, push this to save that recording and start another exactly where the first left off. These can be seamlessly stitched together after the fact in any audio editor.

Remember: Whether Deck Select is switched to the upper Deck or the lower Deck, these two sections remain the same. The left hand side (controlling Deck A and Deck C) hosts the Loop Recorder, and the right hand side (controlling Deck B and Deck D) hosts the Audio Recorder.

I don't believe I have anything mapped to the BANK UP/BANK DOWN buttons in any Deck, so if there's just that one control my mapping lacks for you, that's a fine place to add it in. ;)

I think that pretty much does it for the G4V mapping. I'll put a post in a Launch Control XL thread describing that mapping, and post a link here.

If you have any questions (and how could you not?), I'd be happy to answer. If you want any modifications to the mapping, let me know and I'll either teach you how to do it, or do it for you.

And Avir, I'd be happy to accept a payment of $10,000 USD worth of silver bullion and a 41-ounce bag of Skittles. Please put it in an unmarked, unlocked briefcase, and leave it at the southwest corner of Union Station in Kansas City, Missouri at 6:00 PM tomorrow. ;)

    Cheers!

Thanks a lot Opie for the detailed reply and instruction on how to use your TSI file. I am glad you are one of the few still working on a proper mapping. My needs for the Traktor mapping are simple. I utilized yours and all the other mapping and it seems like I need a combination of all the 3 mappings posted here. I wish people worked together or utilized each others work as a base and we would have had a complete G4V mapping that everyone could benefit from.

Firstly - Screw Gemini - what an utter rubbish mapping they have provided us with

Now I will summarize my needs for a mapping. it is pretty straightforward.

Left Deck and Right Deck on the Controller
    1) Row 1 Knobs
Top 4 Knobs are default as how Gemini mapped them
    Loop Move = Effect Dry/Wet
Next 3 knobs = Control the effects percentages

    2) Row 2 buttons
    Keylock/Range button = Keylock
    Shift+Keylock/range button = Flux Mode On/Off

    3) Row 3 Pads
Hot cue - Standard Gemini Mapping (shift + delete to delete cuepoints)
Auto Loop - standard auto loops.
Sample - Loads remix deck content for first two rows on Deck C or D (dont have preference) - User Ege has worked on this but unfortunately it has two defects - a) The two samples cant be played together at same time when two pads are pressed. b) LEDs are messed up c) Ege's mapping does not have the fix for platter sensitivity, back button for browser does not go to the Tree and for some reason the master volume knob creates issues in left and right monitor volume.
Loop Roll - Loop roll so that the loop is played only until the key is pressed. Flux mode should not be activated by default. Press Shift + Keylock to activate flux mode if you want to use loop roll with flux mode

    4) Shift works how it should work. Same with Search/Scratch and Deck Selector - Opie I think your mapping has this

    5) Platter Sensitivity needs to be adjusted compared to Gemini Mapping - User Geminig4vmappings fixed this by reducing sensitivity to abt 50%

    6) All other button are to be mapped as per default on the two controller decks (cue is cue, cup is cup)

    7) Shift+Play/Pause rewinds the song - Opie you have this!

For mixer - Press down on browser knob to toggle LIST BROWSING. Press back to toggle FOLDER TREE BROWSING - User Geminig4vmappings fixed this

I wish I had $10,000 USD worth of silver bullion. I would have hired one of Gemini's engineers and produced an awesome mapping for all you generous folks here. Possibly given you guys free controllers as well with the remaining change ;)

Well, Avir, Traktor and VirtualDJ are two very different programs. They are very different performance environments, that use different tools, and work in different ways. Some of the things you've asked for either are impossible in Traktor, or are simply not applicable.

For instance, the issue with the Sample page you described not being able to play two vertical sample pads at once is not an issue with the mapping. Traktor's Remix Decks are not a sampler. They are Remix Decks. Only one Cell in a Slot can be active at a time, and that's the way they work. They are an incredibly powerful performance tool, and can approximate some of the functions of a sampler. But they're still Remix Decks.

At the end of the day, if it's exactly the functionality of VirtualDJ that you want, then the only real way to go is to use VirtualDJ. I've used both, and personally, I would never dream of going back to VirtualDJ. Traktor's environment is much more suited to my performance style. But it's up to everyone's individual preference. If it's VirtualDJ you want, why buy Traktor only to try and make it work just like VirtualDJ? If it's the price, then I understand, but if it's really what you want, then the price should be worth it.

My mapping was conceived without looking at the labels on the controller. I knew that it would not work like VirtualDJ, and so rather than just copy VirtualDJ, I tried to reimagine the controller to take advantage of Traktor's features. True, so far it doesn't play well without a second controller. But if you view your controller as simply a box, with knobs, faders, pads, and potential, then you can make any mapping you want that will fit your own style.

But there's only so much that can be done to make Traktor work like VirtualDJ, and you'll always come up short if that's your goal. But imho, Traktor's feature set is WAAAY better than VirtualDJ's. If you take the time to learn how to use what Traktor has to offer, I doubt you'll ever want to go back either.

All that said, when I have a chance, I will see what I can do for your specified mapping. But from my experience, I can make no promises that your mapping is possible.

    And Traktor rules forever! XD

Tried a lot of here posted mappings, no one worked good. There was even one without working cue buttons!

I think the one on their webpage is good untill the bug with the LOW on deck A and no browser tree functionality.

    Questions:
    1. How is it possible to disable the LED if a loop is disabled? They still remain on!
    2. Is there a way to decrease the sensivity of Jog Touch?
    3. Browser Tree section does not work good in all of these mapping files.

I agree Traktor rules and I dont want the Virtual DJ 8 features on Traktor - which is why I want to use Traktor not VDJ.
I think Pioneer SX-2, Numark NV, Reloop Mix 8 are similar to the layout of our G4V.

How about some one who knows how to map a controller to Traktor import one of these controller mappings and then press the "Learn" button to map G4V to the defined functions in Traktor that were previously mapped to SX2/Mix 8

Guys I was working the whole day at the Gemini G4V to get it to work with Traktor, it is a pain in the ass!

Gemini provided a MIDI mapping file for Traktor, it is very very buggy, same with the others found in that thread.
Someone has no cue button work, someone no jog turn. I tried to modify the best working for me but it is so hard to understand what relations each function has with the modifier M states. Right now I am stuck with the cue points for deck A and C. The midi file from Gemini webpage has a bug in this, setting/deleting hot cues for A and C effects both decks!

I tried to start making a new file, but it is realy difficuilt to understand switching with the decks and buttons like shift and effect buttons. Germini used modifiers instead of assigning a MIDI channel and note to each button, and you see, that even the Company Gemini cannot get this machine running well in Traktor!

Earlier I used the Behringer CMD Studio 4a, I really really can recommend this controller for beginners and pro's who want just make music instead of spending weeks of getting their machine running. The CMD 4a is much much easier to use and configure and once it's set up, runs very comfortable.

I think to concider going back to the Behringer and concentrate on making music, instead of getting headache every evening. And to be honest, what is a 4 deck controller, if there are only 2 decks to use. The 2 more fader sections is not enough and switching between decks is stressy and dangerous during a gig.

I found another thing out, the pitch faders are unstable above 8%, they keep on sending commands which vary up to 0.5% of tempo range.
    Is that a known issue?
