I know a lot of guys thought this update was going to be a lackluster, weak, sorry and half baked update. How do you guys feel about 1.8 now that you're using it?

    Just curious.

I'm on a mac. So I'm one of the unlucky ones who owns a killer sampling drum maschine, and a useless midi controller.

So to answer your question: Pumped on the additions to Maschine, VERY let down on the lack of a fix for the midi mode bug.

    Two years? Come on...!

Being able to "prehear" or audition the samples/sounds all with maschine! That's a addition that will help workflow significantly.

So far I enjoy it, and all the funky colors.

I take it the mk1 version owners can't change the colors of the buttons, can we?

I've only managed to be able to change the colors on the software.

Also, I use Ableton. I'm wanting to utilize Maschine as a MIDI trigger device...or rather, something that I can use MIDI Map mode in Ableton with - like to highlight a Send A, for example, and move a knob....

    I use a late 2011 Mac (8gb RAM)....

Does anyone know of any information regarding being able to use Maschine within Ableton Live 8?

I like the time stretch function where you cant set the number of bars. That is the #1 function I like by far. All the other functions are just the typical functions most users here have been expecting to have a long time ago.

    So I am neutral

i use standalone and am diggin it... all the changes are ok with me, most are nice improvements to.. editting samples (besides in slice mode) is a little different .. it jumps around instead of being smooth .. i like the smoothness but oh well im not picky

The jumpiness when editing sample start/end points ("chopping") is ANNOYING AS HELL. GET IT SMOOTH, NI!

Aside from that, TS and PS is dope. And the colors are decent, too.

But seriously.... FIX THE SAMPLE CHOPPING BUG! I'm reverting back to 1.7.

I hear what both you guys are saying....if you use knob 5 to zoom in it doesn't move as fast....then use the [shift] button while scrolling to make it move even slower. I like it the old way too but I think with a little practice using knobs 5 and 6 along with the [shift] button while scrolling, I think I'll get use to it......we'll see.

Yeah I've used knobs 5 and 6, which totally help. But... ultimately, I think this is a huge problem with longer samples. But the whole point is to be able to chop a long sample accurately to a small one. I mean, I guess I could truncate and truncate, but that gets old.

Pain in the butt. But, I really like the sample position indicator. That's totally helpful. Ugh... I wish this jumpiness would be fixed in a very-soon update.

None of the new features were really needed by me...im glad for the transport controls being mapped easily and it looks sharper...auditioning samples will be handy

Im not getting the mkII though, i use maschine as a midi controller and the three separate knobs are too valuable

Importing midi will be a nice one when it comes :)

they gave us time stretch but all it does is make the sample editing bug piss you off more. I believe they will fix this asap so I'm not too worried, there is no way they were aiming for that in a drumsampler, sample slicing is the heart of the maschine.

what I don't like is the thinly veiled nudge towards maschine becoming the Waschine (w) for work around machine. People are starting to talk about work arounds before asking for something to be fixed, frankly that attitude is nuts and extremely counter productive. Maschine is not your cousin, it's good drumsampler that could be a great one or a great drumsampler hiding underneath a good one. I wish we would top catching feelings for it and start catching more solutions… just imho……gambare maschine!

timestretch/pitch shift is cool although not exactly earth shattering for me. playhead is dope and much needed. host transport control is basically useless until they give us the erase button back.

dunno, dont wanna hate cos theres some good stuff in there but i cant help but feel underwhelmed.

I know people are gonna be all 'well you knew what was coming in 1.8...' etc but i was really hoping for some unannounced feature that was going to blow everyone away. or at least a whole load of little improvements on top of what was announced.

all in all a decent update but not exactly lightyears ahead of 1.6 for the MK1 user, especially when you consider how long its been and the fact that host control is compromised by a pretty glaring oversight.

hope the next update isnt so long in coming.

All the updates are good and well needed, colours look great and will be helpful with workflow on old and new controllers. Look forward to playing with samples more now...

The large number of small workflow issues that have been overlooked is disappointing..

I understand some major programming is necessary to implement full host automation but...

Still can't copy modulation with notes (Duplicate works so the programming is all but done already)

No scroll with song/playhead (the playhead moves and we can manually scroll so...)

Haven't checked if we can record mutes/solo into sequencer but I really doubt it it there..

Not being able to fully Zoom out in Pattern Editor is a weird oversight?

Just a few that I've found to make Maschine a chore instead of a dream..

Version 2 could be literally amazing and with programs like Reaktor and the sadly discontinued Kore is should really be beyond expectation... Kore allows more right brain activities with minimal setup and Maschine keeps bringing me back to logical left brain activities.

I'm glad I bought Maschine as it has improved my beat structures and sound control. Sequencing is still rather clumsy and has slowed my workflow somewhat, 1.8.1 has not helped here.. Very pretty though!

    Cheers

    Spanda

Being able to "Record track Mutes" really needs to be in the next update.

Host transport is good ( [ERASE] why is it included ! )

the one thing I was looking forward too was editing note length...bummer.

I mean the new select page is ok, but not efficient for my workflow. ie: I have two notes, both C2, but i just want to change the length of the first.. still not possible without using the mouse.

using the [STEP] mode where i can hold down a pad, then turn a knob to change some parameter is by far the quickest and most straightforward way to edit ( for me ). unfortunately i cant change note length this way?
