Thanks to all who have helped me this far!

I have a project in Maschine, I simply want to move the clips it is made up of into Ableton, so they appear as clips in the software, so I can then manipulate them and record a live mix in Ableton.

Thanks to the help on the forum, I can open Maschine as a VST, but that simply plays whatever is in Maschine at the time. Following other advice, I have set the Maschine ext outs to tracks in Ableton, again, they don't appear as clips in Live, and they don't record when I try to record a mix.

From reading many, many posts, I am sure this is possible - but how!

    ok

First of all, dragging clips into live is only possible with the 1.1 beta, which i don't use yet. So no tips for that.

    Recording Maschines outs into Live:

    1. load maschine as vst-plugin into miditrack 1 (or which ever you like)

    2. open the In/Out tab by pressing the little I-O-button on the right.

    3. set an audiotrack to receive audio from that miditrack, it's the upper of the two drop-down boxes. For example '1-Midi' if Maschine is loaded in Track 1.

    4. set the channel which shall be recorded, this is the drop-down box below.
Pre FX is Maschines Ext Out 1 and also it's master out if nothing is changed in Maschines routing setup.

    5. Set the 'Monitor' settings to 'in', now you will hear what the channel receives and also can record it.

    6. If needed, set up more Audiotracks to receive Maschine audio, the channels are called Out 2 to Out 8.

    7. 'Arm' one of the Audiotracks by hitting the rec-button in the mixing area of that track

    8. hit the rec-button of one of the clips in this track and live will record.

    Done, have fun! ;)

Seeing as so many people dont detail how they made it work, i thought it add my solution which i just found - and i think this is better than the one you just suggested ( thanks anyway !)

Upgrade to beta 1.1 - then once inside say ableton live, you open a VST instrument with Maschine in it - then you go ahead and make whatever loop you want - even add automation effects - anything you want.

once youre happy with it, you simply drag the icon to the right of your group icon - it has 4 little arrows pointing out to each corner, - drag this onto a new or existing clip track in ableton, and .. it will create an audio file with everything you did: even automation.

This is SUPER fast and extremely cool.

    :)

Maybe i should upgrade then ;)

Nevertheless, if you wanna record a set of patterns with pad/group-mutes, this is the way to do it.

    cheers

good thread, just what i needed at the moment. i'm assuming donfuan's method is what most people do, esp those who want to record jams, etc.... is that right? anyone else have a good method for using Maschine with Live? Cheers!

    hey viman, yes that's right.

i usually set each group to a different ext out, then apply live's effects to the audiotracks and trigger/tweak them with the Korg nanocontrol. Just take what you've got lying around, you can even do it with your computer keyboard. Extreme fun!
