I've built a simple ensemble to control a hardware effect processor with over MIDI.

It works when I run Reaktor 5 standalone, but when I run Reaktor inside Cubase I can't seem to get the MIDI output working. The MIDI out lights on Reaktor flash, it seems routing the MIDI in Cubase might be the trouble.

    Any ideas?

Go into your instrument's properties and on the last page; choose plugin in the activate MIDI out dropdown...

I found this setting, but it doesn't seem to have any effect. I attached part of a screenshot.

Can you echo MIDI from a track in Cubase to another track? That's what you have to do.

If Cubase doesn't allow it, you'll need to use something like MIDI Yoke to echo the MIDI back to the other track.

Have you figured this problem out yet? I am having the same problem with Cubase 3 and Reaktor 5. I see the MIDI responding in Reaktor plugin but no output to Cubase and I can't hear anything being played. All the other plugins work with ease.

No I haven't figured it out.

I've stopped using Reaktor, it was very limited with MIDI and switched to Max/MSP. It's much better with MIDI and looks pretty too since the last update.

Really? Wow, so you never got this to work at all? I just shelled out $400 for it because I knew the power but had no idea it was going to be so un-trivial to set it up as a VST. I should just be able to plug it in as an instrument and play. All the other NI and plugins I have work with no problems.

NI wrote back and apparently Reaktor 5 does not work with Cubase SL3. Nice! Guess I should have read the fine print. That's ok it's forcing me to get a new Quad Core PC and Cubase 4. :-D
