Hi everyone I hope someone will help me, I'm a kontakt 2 user for a while now and I never managed to make the portamento work and its getting on my nerve.

When I add a portamento, I got a knob "TIME" that appears but when I turn it nothing happens, I have no sound or there is like a long attack to the note but no glide.
I want to add a glide to a lead sound to have a natural feel in it.

Can someone give me the steps to add a portamento to a patch?

And I'd also like to make the mod wheel of my keyboard control the modulation of the patch too, dont know how to do this.

    Thanks!

If you see a KNOB called Time, you're in the wrong place. To do portamento/glide:

    1. Open Instrument Edit mode.
    2. Open Group Editor.
    3. Make sure all groups are checked.
    4. Go to Source module.
    5. In the lower left corner of the Source module, click Modulation, and add a Glide modulator (Others > Glide).
    6. Scroll down to the bottom and you'll see the new Glide module. You can choose Time or Speed (I almost always like Time better) , and then use the Speed knob to adjust it.

Thank you David I really appreciate your help.

Here is what I'm trying to do, I sampled some instruments from my roland fantom xr and made kontakt patches to use them when I'm not at home, here is the original sound from the fantom :

and the sampled kontakt patch I made :

You can hear I need a little bit of portamento....

So all the steps you said was what I was doing, but let's do it again :

    - I check if all groups are checked

    - Add a glide :

    I now got that :

And it sounds like that :

Even if I tweak it only sounds like it is changing the attack, not the portamento like in the first exemple...

    Am I doing something wrong?

    Thanks again

I see what you're doing wrong. In this step:

    http://primalbeats.free.fr/kontakt/03.JPG

...you added the glide to the Amplifier module. So glide is basically altering the VOLUME, not the pitch.

You should do exactly what you did, except add the glide to the SOURCE module (which is above the Amplifier module). Then it'll work as you expect.

Source modulates pitch. Amplifier modulates volume. If you add mods to the amplifier, you're going to make it get quieter and louder (which you can use for everything from vibrato to stuttering, depending on which mods you choose).

Thank you very much david, this works now, and it sounds perfect.

    Thank you again.
