I've landed a gig at a really nice restaurant that wants exotic, sensual beat-driven music for the first hour or two of my set. I've got small amounts of music like this but need a lot more fast.

Are there any multiple cd box sets or compilations you guys could suggest?

Thanks in advance for your time.

Check out the OM:Lounge series on OM records. http://www.om-records.com Theres everything from chill out stuff to deep house and funky stuff inbetween.

Anything on Jazzanoza especially the REMIXED album (on itunes) which goes every in between nu-jazz, deep house and sweet sweet grooves:D

Also check for Kevin Yost on itunes for more jazzy house comps.

Any of the comps by Giles Peterson.

A bit of Belleruche for some warm up vocal stuff.

And for sure-fire bar music that is as you say "sensual" check out the Hotel Costes series.

Anything by Miguel Migs and the Naked Music cohorts, awesome house music. (seen him dj hes the tits)

Enough there to be going on off the top of my head. Wish i was at home to have flick thru some albums for ya.:D

Blue Six - Music & Wine is an all time fave of mine. I used to dj/promote a late bar that played a lot that kind of stuff...ah happy days.

Same here dude! Wave is good too, I'm a big fan of Sweeter Love and going back a tiny bit further, Abstract Truth's We Had A Thing...love that track soooooooooo much. Regrettably, I didn't catch Naked back when the first ones were out but I caught up. I remember going to Traxx way back in the day and walking in to a really smooth groovy song. I walked to the resident sales guy aka DJ to ask what he was playing. He then said "and the girls get wet.......NOW" just as the bassline came in to Lisa Shaw's Always. I yanked the needle, snatched the record off the platter, and refused to give it back, waving a twenty in his face. Plus I like to see the pictures of Naked ladies they have on the album jackets. Nummy num num.

Oh man good call. Got my photo taken with Dj Ease after seeing him at Glastonbury about 4 years ago.
'Car Boot Soul' is one amazing album and if you get the double vinyl album it actually opens like a car boot (trunk for the yanks) !

Tru Thoughts is a great label.
I djd with Diesler on Tru hes a top bloke.

Tru Thoughts is a bit like the Southern version of Grand Central/Fat City we have up in Manchester.

    Quantic DJ sets are sublime.

Gotta say this thread is great. I know a lot peeps on here go on about Richie Hawtin and all the Beatport DJs but i dont play or listen to that kind of stuff. The artists mentioned in this thread are bang up my street.:p

Some good beats and hip hop etc on ninja tune:

    http://www.ninjatune.net/ninjashop/shopnews.php

Some of the Unabombers stuff quite chilled/downtempo - check out the Electric Chair compilations:

    http://www.electriks.co.uk/

Karlos - Quantic is pretty awesome - his Soul Orchestra pretty good too, however saw them at Koko's (nee Palais) in Camden and they'd taken a latino direction that I couldn't quite get into...

Ooh ooh and Irma records, can be cheesy, can be sublime:

    http://www.irmagroup.com/

    also Timewarp Greece.

and if you like a bit of dubby electronica, artists Kruder and Dorfmeister. Nice.

Lethal you have hit the nail on the head here bro.
Gonna sound like a name dropping git but I know Luke and Justin (unabombers) i booked and DJd with them for a nite i used to promote.
Ive been a regular at The Electric Chair nights for years. Went to the very last one ever in January, an amazing nite. Their next shingdig is 'The Electric Chair Saved My Life' in Manchester on 27thDec (my birthday yippee). Gotta say that i learnt a lot about music and djing going to Electric Chair seeing people like Carl Craig, Ashley Beedle, Optimo, Harvey god the list goes on.

The K and D Sessions by Kruder and Dormeister is probably the greatest chillout cd ever . Absolute genius.

Ninja Tune was how i got into leftfield dancemusic. The DJ Food Jazz Brakes albums and Flexistentialism stuff is were i started off.
My friend Pat works in payroll at Ninja Tune, she gets loadsa great free stuff. How lucky is that.

Sounds like we share a bit of common ground.
