I just purchased Komplete Ultimate and am getting ready to immerse myself in the world of virtual music (for the first time). Could anyone recommend a good 88 key midi controller? I don't need top of the line, but I am prepared to spend to get something good.

    Thanks!

I'm using the Akai MPK series - which are easy to program and feel good too me.

The MPK88 feels very much like my 'real' piano as far as the action goes - and couples well with N.I.'s New York Grand.

I'm also using MPK mini's to control my Daw - using the keys and pads as switches.

Chony, there are so many options out there with so many different features, and your needs will be different than everyone else's. I highly recommend you take a trip to your local music store to try some out and compare the features you need.

Hi. I see that this thread hasn't had any entries for a while but am desperate to know something.

Just bought komplete 8 and excited to have all the grand pianos but......when I use them with my axiom 61, my portable keyboard for little gigs they sound like toy pianos. Is this something I can't change at all. I thought all midi was midi and that all midi keyboards would trigger a sound that soungs something like a world class grand piano. I also have a yamaha clavinova which makes them sound great but that lives in my living room because I would die if I had to move it all the time due to its weight.

I have tried all the pad curves and velocity curves because I guess it's something to do with that but I'm stumped. They don't just sound bad they sound worse than the ableton simpler piano I was using before as I didn't have a nice one.

Any ideas please? I can't really afford another weighted keyboard right now.

    Thanks.
