    Hi Guys,

New to the NI community and just purchased the new Traktor Scratch PRO and the Behringer DDM4000 mixer to accompany my existing Stanton C314 CD Decks.

Just downloaded the Demo of Traktor Pro and loving it, still getting to grips with it like but really enjoying the challenge. Glad to be really moving into the digital realm of things thou! :)

Just after some advice really with the setup i am going to be having... wither it will work well etc...

    3x Stanton C314 CDJ's
    Behringer DDM4000 Mixer
    MacBook PRO

Will i be able to "edit" or "configure" any of the buttons on the new mixer to be able to load an auto cue/sync marco etc...

Your input is appreciated, thanks! :)

if the mixer has the ability to send midi: yes. for "macros" just map two midicommands to one button.
for midimapping just have a look at your manual. (unfortunately ony pdf)

    Cheers Max, thanks :)

Do you think the setup will be "OK" as it is... anything i can add to it?

well.... i would subtract the mixer (as i really do not like behringer) and get a nonmidi mixer with an additional midicontroller instead.

at the most clubs you won't be able to use your own mixer. then you'll be in serious trouble.

Well, reason for me getting the Behringer mixer is because i really like them, have been using them for years now and really enjoy using them :) guess its personal preference thou isn't it?

Hmmm, well the club which i DJ at, at the moment its all a custom setup as its a night which is put on every friday and saturday night so its all good for that but i do understand what your saying... if i go anywhere else... which midi controllers etc would you recommend?

    that depends on your preferences.
for traktor i'm using a vci 100, a novation nocturn and an evolution uc17. i'm mixing completly internal.

for external mixing (conventional mixer + controller) the best one would be a xone 1d, i guess.

but if you look around the forums, you will find plenty of threads concerning this topic.

I just googled your mixer and it says it is MIDI enabled so i would say that is a "yes sir" to your question.:)

Better than that the DDM4000 is Traktor Ready which means its will have plug and play configuration files for Traktor and it is also capable of playback control. Happy days!

This isnt a recomendation Ive no idea how well it works.

this is true to an extent.

i have had my hands and ears on a lot of behringer gear over the years (in emergencies and other types of clusterf#cks) and i just can't imagine that ANYone would personally prefer the sound quality that queefs out of those things.

i would probably give one of their midi controllers a whirl, cuz midi has been around since A New Hope was new school and even Behringer might be able to get that right. They've got that one that's all knobs, that could be fun to have. Cheap too.

But the only reason I would try them is because once you have sound coming through something made by behringer, it sounds like you're listening while sitting at the bottom of an empty swimming pool. And something in the swimming pool is hissing loudly.

The 1D is a midi controller.

Browsing tracks, filter control, effects control, jumping around between your hot cues, setting and controlling loops, changing beatjump values, etc.

here is a diagram of one of the more detailed maps for a xone 4D (essentially, this could be mapped to a pair of 1D's)... with modifiers, you could probably map all of these functions onto a single 1D... might get a little confusing, but probably doable.

    http://www.native-instruments.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=11416&d=1226352760

props to rainerh for that map- And check out his traktorbible.com website if you have any intentions of setting up a serious midi map for your controller.

And hopefully the new midi mapping capabilities in 1.0.3 will make your job easier than mine was.

If your gonna be jocking your mixer on a big club set up...forget the ddm4000. Get a allen and heath xone92 and a 1d or 2 1ds. If your just gonna be mixing in a small studio on some monitors then the ddm4000 will be fine. I own one and threw it on a set of 12" cerwin vegas and it sounded like a giant fart. Now when im mixing in my studio at home on a set of Alesis MK11 actives.... its all good at a nice medium tone. The features are great on the ddm4000 and its a STEAL at 399 for what you get. But I have come to learn that you really get what you pay for... you may get a crap load of features and parameters that you may never use but your gonna pay for it sound quality. Just save the loot and get a xone92 and all your problems will be solved and youll live happily ever after.

Par for the course with behringer gear. Hissing, farting, distortion... overall sh*te sound quality. My original point.

i have no idea what you're talking about. i've used a wide range of gear and the DDM4000 sounds fairly fine. i'm not saying it's the best thing i've ever used, but i notice no discernible difference in sound quality from most mixers on the market...including A&H. granted, i'm not playing on some oakie/brit spears array but i do have a decent 2500 watt rig: 4 12"s and 2 18" subs...Mackie/OSC powered. Vestax, Rane, Pioneer, Mackie, Korg, Numark, Gemini, Behringer and A&H have all been used at some point.

for $400 the DDM4000 is a great piece of gear...if you can't make people dance, i'll bet the $2500 A&H wouldn't have made the difference.

Why is it that people come on the forum and say the the DDM4000 is rubbish. So many people say this.
But others, people like djmutley (who i have to say i believe virtualy everything he rights) completely say the opposite.
There is NO other mixer that gets such varied reviews on this forum.
Really nothing compares to the mixed views on this mixer.

    Just wondering guys ?
